Samatta azivuruga Lyon, TFF

Mwanamichezo Bora Taswa kuzawadiwa gari

Akizungumza Dar es Salaam, Mwenyekiti wa Taswa, Juma Pinto amesema wanamichezo wengine watakaoshinda kwenye kila mchezo watazawadiwa Sh milioni moja kila mmoja.

Maugo bado amtamani Kaseba

Sir Alex Ferguson feels Chelsea are main threat to Manchester United

• Chelsea have moved into second place after run of wins
• United have six-point cushion going into Everton match

Sir Alex Ferguson has identified Chelsea as the new challenge to Manchester United's hopes of a record 19th league championship, questioning whether a faltering Arsenal side are paying the price for not having enough experience or mental strength.
"Arsenal are the better footballers but Chelsea are the better, stronger team," Ferguson said of the two clubs currently six points behind United with only five games remaining. Looking at the two of them, Chelsea are far more experienced than Arsenal – far more experienced, a strong team, strong experience. That's the difference between the two teams."
That differs with Ferguson's assessment of the title race two months ago when he spoke at length of it being a two-horse race between Arsenal and United. Since then, however, Arsenal have won only one of their last six league matches as well as losing the Carling Cup final, going out of the FA Cup at Old Trafford and being eliminated from the Champions League by Barcelona.
Chelsea have won six of their last seven league matches to move back into second position on goal difference and Ferguson, once again, is more wary of the team from Stamford Bridge.
"Both are six points behind us, both are our challengers. I have that slight preference for Chelsea because their fixture list is a wee bit easier. They were odds-on at one point for the Premier League and then they hit that blip [winning 10 points in 11 league games]. Credit to us because we took advantage of that." Chelsea, he added, "have to come to Old Trafford and that's not going to be easy for them."
United are certainly in a position of strength, with the opportunity to extend their lead to nine points in the early kick-off at home to Everton, winless at Old Trafford since 1992 and on a run of 14 defeats in their 17 subsequent visits. "Looking behind you is not a bad thing to do with our experience," Ferguson said. "You have to recognise who is behind you. You can't become complacent. It's good to know somebody is behind you and, in that sense, we use our experience. If we win against Everton that leaves us with only four games left and a minimum six-point lead. That's the way to look at it. You run out of games eventually."
Ferguson's team selection will be influenced by the fact the first leg of the Champions League semi-final against Schalke is in Germany on Tuesday, which has left him considering whether to rest Rio Ferdinand and Edwin van der Sar, among others. Dimitar Berbatov is doubtful with a slight groin strain and Ferguson is mindful not to underestimate David Moyes's side. "Everton have done exceptionally well considering David has had a mountain of injuries in the last few weeks, without [Tim] Cahill, [Mikel] Arteta, [Louis] Saha, [Marouane] Fellaini but still turning out the results," he said.
"It's amazing what David has done – even last season when [Phil] Jagielka did his cruciate; he had lots of injuries then, too. He still gets them motivated, he's bringing through some young players, he's freshened his team up and done a fantastic job. They are never easy games against Everton because it's a local derby in a way."
Nonetheless, United have dropped only two points at home all season and are on course to go unbeaten at Old Trafford in the league for the first time since 2000. Ferguson described it as a "fantastic" record and the key factor to their position at the top of the league. Away from home, there have been only five league wins, meaning United could conceivably be the first team since Liverpool in 1976-77 to win the league with fewer than eight victories on the road.
The manager also reported an improvement in Darren Fletcher's condition after the virus that has ruled out the midfielder since the 3-1 defeat at Liverpool on 6 March. Fletcher should be available again in 10 days and Ferguson said: "Darren is a very important player to come back. In big games, important games, Darren has excelled over the years because he has the knowledge and discipline to carry out a job, whatever I want him to do. When he does come back, he will go straight into the team."

Manchester City are increasingly convinced that Carlos Tevez will try to resurrect a transfer away from the club this summer, in part because of the difficulties in his relationship with Roberto Mancini.
Tevez is being prominently linked with a £40m move to Internazionale and there is a begrudging acceptance at Eastlands, both at boardroom level and among the management, that the club captain is giving serious consideration to leaving.
Mancini evaded the issue when he was asked at his press conference on Thursday whether the injured 26-year-old may have played his last game for the club. Since then, however, the Italian's associates have confirmed he fears the worst, and that he is not alone at City when it comes to feeling uneasy about the Argentinian's strategy for the next few months.
The Guardian has also established that Tevez has several grievances with Mancini despite making a great show of praising the manager when he withdrew his transfer request last December. The pair have had an occasionally volatile relationship even though Mancini made the Argentinian his captain at the start of the season in a deliberate attempt to pacify him.
Tevez also believes there are several unresolved issues from December, when he feels he was treated badly by the club. One of his points at the time was that he felt a move to Spain or Italy would enable him to see more of his daughters, Florencia and Katia, now he is separated from their mother, Vanessa. That remains the case.
Inter would be one of the few clubs with the financial power to arrange a possible deal, particularly if they sell Wesley Sneijder, but the Tevez camp have told this newspaper that reports in Italy of him verbally agreeing a five-year contract to move to San Siro are "categorically untrue".
Tevez has been staying in Milan, with City's permission, for treatment on the hamstring injury that is threatening to ruin his chances of playing in the FA Cup final. His girlfriend, an actress, is also currently working in the city. Tevez is being treated by the Argentinian team doctor at the hotel where Inter's players and staff stay before matches, the explanation being that the same doctor is also treating Walter Samuel.
City's stance is that they will not address the matter until the end of the season but that it will be their decision, not Tevez's, citing what happened when he submitted his transfer request in December. Khaldoon Al Mubarak, the club's chairman, became personally involved, flying from Abu Dhabi to Manchester to tell the striker that he was under contract and would not be allowed to leave midway through the season. Even then, however, City were privately admitting they were not confident enough to be certain the player and his representatives saw it as more than a short-term agreement.
What is not clear is whether City have the appetite to dissuade him once again. Tevez has a nomadic track record, with five different employers in 10 years, and his position at City is complicated by the difficult relationship between the club and the player's adviser, Kia Joorabchian.
Garry Cook, City's chief executive, was once a close ally of the man at the centre of Tevez's business dealings, but that disintegrated last year to the point where they were communicating only via email. Tevez released a statement at the time saying his relationship with the club's executives had "broken down and is beyond repair". City's feelings were laid bare in their own statement, saying they were "disappointed by this situation and particularly the actions of Carlos's representative". Joorabchian, however, has always strongly denied that he tried to influence Tevez to leave the club.
Tevez's form has dipped over the last couple of months and he recently went his longest run of games without scoring. Yet it speaks volumes for his record at City that it was only an eight-match sequence. Tevez has been one of the more prolific strikers in the Premier League and, if he were to leave, it would represent a major loss to the team's hopes of mounting an authentic title challenge next season. He is City's leading scorer, with 22 goals, and has scored 51 times in 82 games.
City's other options in attack are limited, with Edin Dzeko struggling to adapt to life in England since his £27m move from Wolfsburg in January. Mancini believes Mario Balotelli can have a more productive second season but does not want Emmanuel Adebayor or Craig Bellamy to return from loan spells with Real Madrid and Cardiff City, while the Brazilian Jô is expected to leave.

Sir Alex Ferguson is confident Chelsea's looming presence will help ensure Manchester United do not get complacent during the title run-in.
With Arsenal dropping points for the second time in four days, and blowing the chance to exert some pressure on the Premier League leaders, who themselves failed to win at Newcastle, Chelsea have emerged as the most likely threat to United's dream of landing a record 19th championship.
The Blues have collected 19 points from a possible 21 since the beginning of March, a run that started with their Stamford Bridge defeat of United that landed Ferguson with a five-game touchline ban.

As Chelsea still have to face the Red Devils at Old Trafford on May 8, Petr Cech is not alone in thinking the Londoners can haul back United's current six-point advantage to retain their crown.
Ferguson has far more faith in his troops than that.
And rather than fear Chelsea's late season surge, the Scot actually believes it will push his side over the finishing line.
"It is good to know someone is behind you," he said.
"You have to recognise who is there because we cannot become complacent.
"In that sense we use our experience of years past in situations like this. Hopefully it will get us where we want to go."
In theory, Saturday represents one of the easier fixtures of the season.
Historians need to trawl back to August 1992 for the last Everton win at Old Trafford, since when they have only managed three draws amid a dire sequence of 14 defeats.
It is 2005 since they last claimed a point, thanks to an early James McFadden goal.
However, after a difficult start to the season, David Moyes' side are top of the form table and even retain an outside chance of landing a Europa League spot, although that would depend on Manchester City finishing outside the top four.
Little wonder Moyes has repeatedly been linked with the United job in recent seasons. And Ferguson is a firm fan.
"It's amazing what David has done," said the Red Devils chief.
"He has had to cope with a mountain of injuries over the last few weeks but Everton have still churned out the results.
"Even last season when he was without Phil Jagielka he still got them motivated.
"What he did well two or three years ago was to use the money he had available to get all his younger players on long-term contracts.
"That created a consistency in his squad which is proving very beneficial now.
"He brings people in to freshen his team up and they are able to do a job."

Jackson Odoyo

Just for a short time, most of the second half in fact, it appeared there was going to be a departure from the usual script. Manchester United were throwing everything at the Everton goal and not looking at all like scoring, but it turned out the champions-elect were merely teasing Arsenal and Chelsea. In the end United did not even need nine minutes of stoppage time or a debatable penalty to secure the points.
Antonio Valencia, one of the game's best players, won the ball from Sylvain Distin and sent over a measured cross for Javier Hernández to head a far-post winner with six minutes to spare. It was not even tough on Everton, who had been riding their luck. Like the two London sides with rather more interest in the result, they would have been expecting something like this.
United should have been out of sight by the interval. Everton defended doughtily, but offered almost nothing in attack and Anderson alone produced enough defence-splitting passes to produce a comfortable half-time cushion.
Valencia was not far behind the Brazilian in creating inviting openings, yet with Wayne Rooney and Hernández not really on each other's wavelength and Nani taking the wrong option so frequently you could put money on it, United had nothing to show for an opening period they completely dominated.
Tim Howard made one fine save to punch away a goal-bound shot from Hernández and was also required to prevent a couple of more optimistic efforts from Nani and the Mexican getting past him at the near post. It was not a case of heroics from the Everton goalkeeper keeping a rampant United at bay, it was more a lack of wit and intention from the home side.
When they began rolling square balls to invite Darron Gibson to shoot from outside the area it was a sure sign of a shortage of attacking ideas, though just after Howard's reaction save from Hernández United were unlucky not to take the lead when Valencia used power as well as pace to muscle past Leighton Baines and outstrip the Everton defence on the right.
The winger did everything correctly, looking up from the byline to see who was available for a cut back, only to see Hernández slip in front of goal. Valencia crossed to Nani instead, but with an inevitably that seemed to sum up United's first-half frustration, when the shot came in it struck Hernández in front of goal and bounced to safety. The Little Pea could have done with making himself a bit smaller.
Everton brought Tim Cahill and Victor Anichebe on for the second half, perhaps sensing there might be something in the game for them. United stayed the same and were encouraged by a sharp chance Nani and Hernández helped create for Rooney, superbly snuffed out by an excellent block from Phil Jagielka.
Everton then had a decent penalty shout turned down when Anichebe embarrassed Rio Ferdinand and strode into the box. The United captain appeared to get away with a subtle nudge in the back, though the Everton player would have been better advised to use his obvious strength to stay on his feet.
When United made their first attacking change after an hour it was a surprising one, Michael Owen replacing Nani. With Patrice Evra already introduced and Ryan Giggs and Michael Carrick warming up on the touchline few anticipated a third striker. The risk of going all out for a goal was perfectly illustrated when Jack Rodwell produced a snapshot 20 minutes from the end that Edwin van der Sar had to dive at full length to palm round a post.
It began to look as though it might not be United's day when Owen struck the post from Fábio da Silva's cross four minutes after that, although there was still time to send on Giggs for the last quarter of an hour and plenty of time for Valencia and Hernández to resume normal service.

How on earth Ferdinand shoving Anichebe wasn't a penalty while Ebou's touch on Lucas was? I guess this can be seen only in the Premier League

    Squeaky
    Bum
    Time
Something of a makeshift side, but kept up the pressure for the majority of the match and kept creating chances. A lovely header from Hernadez, but it needed to be, as Everton were looking to cram their whole team into the box.
Job done - onto the next

Why is Nani worse when Valencia is on the pitch?
They are both outstanding on the right flanks, useless on the left. Whoever plays on the left when both of them are on the pitch would look lethargic.

If people say that Ferdinand incident was a penalty, we could be having an average of 10 penalties a game.
There was no contact with the feet, there were arms across the bodies by both players and Anichebe went down like a pack of cards. On first viewing, it did look like a peno, but on the replays you could clearly see why it wasn't given.
Not a great performance, but in the context of the season, a vital three points which will go a long way in bringing the 19th title home.

Worst league champions evarrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr! etc ;-)
To be serious that Utd keep pulling points out of games like this means they are arguably worthy champions. Better that than Arsenal winning the title while bottling every 3rd/4th game.

Anderson was pretty good. he broke up play, kept things ticking, and picked out some stunning long-range passes.
Rooney had a decent game too. up-front, left-wing, centre-mid... having him on form is massive, because it enables him to perform wherever you put him. he wasn't at his best, but considering he's usually crap against Everton this was actually a step up.
Hernandez... how can you not like this guy? what a superhero. he was even translating for Anderson in the post-match interview!
but Tony V. maaaaannnnn. Tony V is more manly than any footballer. ever. watching him, would you be able to tell the end of his leg was hanging off as recently as September? what a player.
also: Rodwell is quite good, and has massive potential. would quite like to see him at OT.

    @KoaChinHorSays
I agree. Jagielka has been a top defender for years now. Arsenal should have bought him a long time ago.

FIVE WHOLE MINUTES OF MOYES TIME!
    Disgraceful.
Of course United only won because of a penalty not given blah blah blah

Anderson looked more like his old self today, giving the midfield some forward impetus, something sorely lacking. Giggsy gave a spark as well. Rooney excellent all game with his passing. All quite a bit short of ideas in the final third though.

Yanga kumnasa Niyonzima Send to a friend Saturday, 23 April 2011 14:54

Clara Alphonce
