Uhamisho Samatta: Lyon yataka fedha zote, Simba yagoma Send to a friend Wednesday, 20 April 2011 12:46

Musonye amkana Nchunga wa Yanga Send to a friend Wednesday, 20 April 2011 12:07

Clara Alphonce

Mwasika kukaa nje kutokana na maumivu Send to a friend Wednesday, 20 April 2011 12:05

Imani Makongoro

Carlo Ancelotti has insisted there is no need for a fire sale at Chelsea this summer, regardless of who is manager.
The past week has seen Blues boss Ancelotti appear all but resigned to losing his job at the end of the season after overseeing what is set to be the club's worst campaign since Roman Abramovich's takeover.

There has also been intense speculation about the future of several of Chelsea's senior players, many of whom have been unable to maintain their form from last term.
There has been no sign of the likes of Didier Drogba, Nicolas Anelka and Jose Bosingwa being offered new contracts to replace the ones which expire at the end of next season, while questions have also been asked about the durability of Michael Essien, John Obi Mikel, Salomon Kalou, and even Frank Lampard and captain John Terry.
But despite Chelsea sitting in third place behind Manchester United and Arsenal in the Premier League and suffering earlier-than-expected exits from every cup competition this term, Ancelotti was adamant only minor changes are needed.
He said: "I don't think there will be a lot of changes during the summer because we bought very important players in January, David Luiz and (Fernando) Torres.
"I don't think we need to have too many more changes."
Many of Chelsea's players are now in their thirties but Ancelotti claimed this did not mean they were on the way down.
"After 30 years old, you can use your experience to maintain yourself at the top level," he said.
"I think that football is not just physical, it's not just technical. It's experience, ability to manage yourself, to be professional.
"When you increase your age, your professionalism improves every time - if you are intelligent.
"I think that this club has very intelligent players." Players that are not so easily replaced, according to Ancelotti, who added: "Every player has particular skills and abilities, which are difficult to replace."
Indeed, Chelsea's season began to unravel when injuries struck towards the end of last year and Ancelotti gave his clearest indication yet that his squad was not strong enough after five senior players were allowed to leave last summer.
"I don't think the squad was good enough this year," said the Italian, who nevertheless insisted the club's injury crisis had been unforeseeable.
The home of the best LIVE soccer and rugby awaits at FoxSoccer.tv -- don't miss a second of the action.

"At the start of the season, we couldn't have envisaged having very important players out at the same time.
"We struggled to manage this - without Lampard, Drogba, Essien, Terry, Alex. It was very difficult.
"At a certain point in the season, we needed to put (Paulo) Ferreira in at centre-back because we'd lost all our other centre-backs."
Ancelotti could be faced with a decision in defence for the game against Birmingham, with Alex out and Branislav Ivanovic a doubt.
Midfielder Ramires is also missing and, like, Alex will not return until after Saturday's game with West Ham.

Simba wakutana leo kujadili mambo yao Send to a friend Wednesday, 20 April 2011 12:00

Michael Carrick has reminded his Manchester United team-mates that a 19th League title remains in their hands despite a disappointing night on Tyneside.
The leaders emerged from a tough 90 minutes at St James' Park on Tuesday having to make do with a point from a hard-fought 0-0 draw despite creating enough chances to have won the game and extend their lead over second-placed Arsenal to nine points in the Barclays Premier League table.

However, a seven-point advantage ahead of the Gunners' derby trip to Tottenham tonight is more than healthy, and with a showdown at the Emirates Stadium and Chelsea's visit to Old Trafford to come, they remain the masters of their own destiny.
Carrick said: "We are still in a good position. We have got tough games ahead, but they [Arsenal and Chelsea] have got tough games too.
"We don't want to be looking at results too much, we want to be winning games ourselves.
"We just roll on. This is what we want to be doing, playing in the big games coming thick and fast."
United resume their bid for glory at home to Everton on Saturday, while the Gunners head for the north west the following day to face a Bolton side no doubt desperate to bounce back from their FA Cup semi-final mauling at the hands of Stoke.
The Red Devils, of course, also missed out on a return trip to Wembley at the weekend, although the fact that their treble hopes were wrecked by great rivals Manchester City simply increased the misery.
In the circumstances, the trip to St James' to meet a side which has not beaten them since September 2001 seemed the ideal opportunity to pick up three points.
Sir Alex Ferguson was without central defender Rio Ferdinand and striker Dimitar Berbatov, who was taken ill before kick-off, as well as the suspended Paul Scholes, and made a total of five changes.
But that simply meant returns for the likes of Ryan Giggs, Javier Hernandez and Wayne Rooney, who were all to play central roles in a game which kept a crowd of 49,025 on their toes throughout.
The Mexican might have scored with less than two minutes on the clock when he connected with Rooney's inviting low cross in front of goal, but was denied at point-blank range by stand-in keeper Tim Krul.
However, Newcastle's response was concerted and it was they who largely held sway for the remainder of the opening 20 minutes.
Krul made an even better save from Rooney and Hernandez saw a shot blocked by Jose Enrique on the stroke of half-time as United gained the upper hand, and they were to maintain it for much of the second half.
Nani and Rooney both only just missed the target from distance, and Giggs fired narrowly wide when presented with a glorious opportunity to win the game from Patrice Evra's 69th-minute cross.
With just seconds remaining Hernandez went down in the box under Danny Simpson's challenge and referee Lee Probert, who had earlier waved away appeals for a penalty for Anderson's clumsy attempt to dispossess Peter Lovenkrands, blew his whistle.

But to the Mexican's horror and the relief of the bulk of the crowd, he produced a yellow card for diving.
Carrick said: "You can see it on the telly, there is contact.
"It's disappointing when you don't get them because we thought it was another late goal for us, but you just have to deal with it and move on.
"It's not the end of the world at all, we are still in a good position. It's not what we set out to do, but we move on.
"We need to bounce back with a big game on Saturday."
It proved an interesting evening for former Newcastle striker Michael Owen, who was roundly booed as he was introduced as an 80th-minute substitute and later responded to criticism of his spell on Tyneside via his Twitter page.

Van der Sar is retiring in the summer, meaning the number one spot with the Premier League leaders is up for grabs.
A string of high-profile keepers from across Europe have been linked with a move to Old Trafford, while Sir Alex Ferguson currently has Lindegaard and Tomasz Kuszczak to choose from if he promotes from within.
Lindegaard has made two FA Cup appearances since joining United during the winter and the Denmark international is currently sidelined by a knee injury.
However, the 27-year-old is determined to stake his claim to be van der Sar's successor and is not concerned by the threat of new signings.
"The question is more complex than just a yes or no answer," Lindegaard told Sunmorposten regarding his chances of being first choice.
"There are many factors to consider but it is, of course, a goal.
"I don't think about that (other keepers being linked with United). That's not on my table and I can't say one thing or another about it.
"The only thing I can do is show myself and prove to everyone that I should be the first-choice keeper."

The 19-year-old has been one of the highlights of Arsenal's campaign with a string of impressive displays earning him full England honours under Fabio Capello. And the midfield dynamo has been pencilled in to play for England's Under-21s, who will bid to win the European Championships this summer, despite Wenger's disapproval.
Only two Arsenal players have made more Premier League starts than the teenager this term, but after he looked battle-wearing in Sunday's 1-1 draw Wenger now has one eye on maintaining his spark.
The French tactician loves Wilshere's passion and enthusiasm to play as much as possible, however, he has now hinted the youngster could be starting fewer games before the season concludes.
"He has given a lot since the start of the season," Wenger told the club's official website.
"Liverpool was one of the games where he was less sharp, physically. But Jack is a generous player and gives you everything in every game. He has played many games, more than almost anybody else in the team.
"He always wants to play and that is good. It is down to me to use him well and that's what I will try to do."
Wilshere claimed the PFA Young Player of the Year award at the weekend, the fifth Arsenal to claim the prize, and Wenger believes he was the deserved winner.
"It has been an excellent season where he delivered beyond expectation," he continued.
"He has had a formidable presence in midfield with a lot of character, he is a fighter, a great passer of the ball. He has played a lot. He deserves it."

The 23-year-old has never been short on self belief and has regularly aired his opinion on what his standing at The Emirates should be.
With those calls having failed to earn him a regular role, Bendtner concedes that he now has a decision to make.
He will, however, leave it until the summer before passing any judgement on what would be best for his career in the long run.
"It is incredibly frustrating not being seen as a first-team player, but there is not much I can do about it," Bendtner told Ekstra Bladet.
"I have proven that I am good enough to play from the start at Arsenal.
"[Robin] van Persie is ahead of me at the moment and there is nothing to say about that because he has scored 16 goals since New Year."
For now, Bendtner's focus remains on helping Arsenal overhaul Manchester United at the top of the Premier League table.
"After that I will decide on my future, but not before," he added.
Arsenal sit seven points adrift of United at present, but will have the opportunity to close that gap when they face arch-rivals Tottenham in a make-or-break North London derby on Wednesday.
On that game, Bendtner said: "It is the most important game for our fans, but it has also become the most important for us players.
"It's win or be gone, to a certain extent. It won't be totally over if we don't win, but pretty close.
"I expect that we need to win the rest of the games this season in order to have a realistic chance of winning the league."

The 31-year-old, who spent four years on Tyneside after a club record £16million move from Real Madrid, received a hostile welcome as he was introduced as an 80th-minute replacement for Nani during Tuesday night's 0-0 Premier League draw on Tyneside.
Responding to the boos via his Twitter account, he said: "Got a poor reception off the home fans which was disappointing. Was desperate to score!"
He added: "Knew I would get booed as that's what a lot of fans do, but if they knew the facts, then they may have a different opinion."
Owen, who earned £103,000 a week during his injury-plagued time with the Magpies, left in the wake of the club's relegation to the Championship at the end of the 2008-09 campaign.
He defended himself amid further criticism in a series of later posts.
The striker said: "From what most of you Newcastle fans are saying, you should be pleased I left the club! If I had known that earlier I could have left sooner!
"For the record, I tried my best in every game for Newcastle. Under KK [Kevin Keegan], I played well and I'll never forget the 2 I scored against Sunderland.
"When I meet Newcastle or Liverpool fans, they all respect what I've done for their clubs. In stadiums it changes, 1 boo and the rest follow.
"By the way, I'm not looking for sympathy. As long as my family don't boo me when I walk through the door, I couldn't care less!!!"

Clarke was brought in by Dalglish on a short-term deal to work alongside him until the end of the season.
The former West Ham and Chelsea coach has made a big impact alongside the Reds boss since they took charge at Anfield.
With Dalglish looking likely to be handed a long-term deal, Clarke is hopeful their partnership will continue.
"Every manager I've worked with - you pick up good qualities from all of them and so far, in a short space of time, I've seen a lot of great qualities from Kenny," he said.
"I hope to continue the work into the future. Anyone watching us play right now can see the spirit is high, the confidence is good and the performances have been decent. Now we need to continue it.
"If you are working well as a group and working well day in, day out in training - you can see they're taking that onto the pitch right now. If you've got that togetherness it goes a long way in any team sport - especially football."
Liverpool have blooded the likes of youngsters Jack Robinson and John Flanagan in recent games, and Clarke has paid tribute to Dalglish for his approach with them.
"Before Jack went on Kenny was making a joke and trying to relax him going onto the pitch," he said.
"Obviously it's a very nerve-racking moment for a young player and Kenny was trying to take the edge out of the situation. It was the same with John.
"When you've got someone as experienced as Kenny who says the right words at the right time, it can only help."

Mancini's position at Eastlands will come under increased scrutiny if City fail to secure UEFA Champions League qualification for next season and speculation has suggested he could return to Serie A.
Juventus have been linked with a move for a new boss after a disappointing season, although Luigi Del Neri remains under contract for another year.
Reports that Mancini could be their No.1 target started to surface after it emerged they had held discussions with his representative, but Juve general manager Giuseppe Marotta claims that is not the case.
"I met Giorgio De Giorgis (Mancini's agent), but we just chatted about football in general," he told Sky Sport Italia.
"Even about Roberto Mancini? No, Mancini has a contract with City and we talked with De Giorgis about players."
Marotta also played down rumours connecting Napoli chief Walter Mazzarri with the Juve job, saying Del Neri remains the man at the helm.
"With Del Neri we have a two-year relationship, but it's evident that we will evaluate many things at the end of the season," said Marotta.
"Del Neri has done a difficult job in the best way.
"Mazzarri has a contract with Napoli and the club president (Aurelio) De Laurentiis has told the coach he will stay there for two more years.
"It is wrong to link Juventus to coaches that are bound with contracts to other clubs."

Sunderland striker Fraizer Campbell is to undergo knee surgery on Wednesday which will rule him out for the bulk of next season.
The Black Cats have confirmed that the 23-year-old, who has missed all but four games of the current season with cruciate ligament damage, needs a second operation.

Manager Steve Bruce revealed his fears over Campbell last week, and they have now been realised, and with loan signing Danny Welbeck struggling with a hamstring problem, he faces heading into Saturday's crucial Premier League clash with Wigan with only one fit senior striker.
Campbell initially suffered his injury during the 1-0 victory over Manchester City on August 29, and was in line to return against the same opposition on April 3 when he twisted his knee again in training.
The club's medics had hoped he had suffered only a minor setback, but examinations revealed the full extent of the damage and that surgery was the only option.
Campbell will have his operation just 48 hours after keeper Craig Gordon headed into theatre for a procedure to address his own knee problem.
The Scotland international will be sidelined for between four and six months.
Sunderland have paid a heavy cost for injuries this season, and in particular knee problems, to the extent that Bruce has launched an inquiry into the reasons.
The likes of Titus Bramble, who is unlikely to play again before the end of the current campaign, Michael Turner, David Meyler and Welbeck have also endured lengthy lay-offs for similar reasons.
Fitness concerns in general have had a seriously detrimental effect on the club's hopes of securing a top-10 finish, and defeat at Birmingham on Saturday - their eighth in nine league games - left them sitting in 15th place in the table, just five clear of the relegation zone with as many fixtures left to play.
Bruce admitted Campbell, a £3.5million signing from Manchester United during the summer of 2009, could be out for a year.
He told the Sunderland Echo: "Fraizer gets operated on today. He will be out for 12 months.
"He was out on the training ground yesterday having a bit of banter with the players. He's taken it okay because he is strong mentally.
"Thankfully, with his strength of mind, we think he will be okay. I hope he will be.
"If there's anyone mentally tough enough, it's him."

Mabondia wa Taifa kusaka tiketi ya Olimpiki Send to a friend Wednesday, 20 April 2011 11:57

Imani Makongoro
