Liverpool midfielder Lucas Leiva has hailed the impact Luis Suarez has made since joining the club in January.
Suarez has played only four matches since his £22.8million transfer from Ajax but has shown he could prove to be an incredibly shrewd purchase.
His Reds career got off to the perfect start when he came off the bench for his debut against Stoke and scored within 15 minutes of taking the field.
However, he went up a notch against Manchester United on Sunday when, although Dirk Kuyt's hat-trick grabbed the headlines, the 24-year-old was the star performer with a hand in all three goals.
His contribution for the first, skipping past Rafael, Michael Carrick and Wes Brown before rolling the ball through goalkeeper Edwin van der Sar's legs for Kuyt to tap home had the mark of genius.
And Lucas believes the impact Suarez has already had, with the promise of better to come in the future, has helped erase the memory of Fernando Torres' departure to Chelsea for £50million - funds which were used to bring in the Uruguayan and club-record signing Andy Carroll.
"I don't think Liverpool would pay 25million euros for a bad footballer," joked the Brazil international.
"He has already settled and looks like he has been here for a long time.
"He is really happy and we have helped him to settle, especially outside of the training ground.
"You have to give him the confidence to show what he can do and he has already shown what he is capable of doing.
"We are happy because when you lose a striker like Fernando you expect to have another one.
"He is a fighter, he has a lot of quality, is very strong and quick and can change the game.
"What he did against United was good, especially the first goal, where he did a great job."
Kuyt has already backed Suarez to write his name into the Anfield history books.
"His influence since he arrived here has been really good," said the Holland international.
"He scored in his first game, he was very close to scoring against Wigan and he created a goal against West Ham for Glen Johnson.
"For him to be at his best after just a couple of weeks at the club is impossible.
"But he has shown the will he has to be a great player for Liverpool and I think there is a lot more to see and expect from him."
Suarez himself, meanwhile, has declared there is even more to come from him.
"It is very difficult for me to play one week and then have to wait two for the next chance," he said.
"I am playing one game and then there is not another game I can play for a long time, and so it is hard for me to get to the right level physically.
"I think it will take some time before the fans get the best of me.
"It is great for a new player to have the support of the public like I did (against United). It was fantastic."

lmao,, its so funny how you assume, bye fox, etc continually gets booted. . the guy has issues obviously. still funny.. torres will score folks, i just get the impression, the guy doesnt want to work for it like a Tevez does. He wants service and seems to mostly score when he gets good service, or in big games. I dont like that attitude. Being out of form for at least the last year and a half, is more than just out of form. It could and apppears to be somethin in his head IMO
I like how all the nut huggers dwell on the past. You really can't be serious can you? Just because someone scored 60 some goals in eighty appearances doesn't mean he is that good now or will ever be that good again. What it does mean is that FT had a run that was top class, What it means now is that he completely sucks!
Lets put a little reality back into this situation ffs. The only thing that matters in a strikers life is scoring goals and right now he is all but pure ****!
Lets also get realistic, FT wanted a transfer, he wanted to leave LFC to play in a CL match. So if he fails to fit in at Chelsea then he has no one to blame but himself. If anyone here is saying that he did that knowingly then he is more greedy then I had first thought.
I was talking to the same fella as you, bBye or whatever his tag was..what a wanker. Suarez is quality though, can't wait to see him team up with Carroll on a regular basis. Felt that I should actually say something that pertained to the topic at hand rather than talk crap to a troll haha
Not worth the aggravation is it, IMHO. Torres is a fine striker. In honesty, I think the last knee injury took a half step away or he doesn't trust it. But the guy that man handled Lahm for the Euro winner is not the same guy we see in Blue today. Can he be? I think so. But until the dollar bill signs clear from his eys, we won't know.
............As for Saurez, if the guy thinks he's got more on tap, I say bring it on.
Uneducated mistake..says the guy who can't seem to get a decent grasp of proper grammar. Is that a- why yes it is, you used a semi-colon there. Do you know what a semi-colon is? Do you know what a book is? If so, you should hit those, brush up on your English and then get back to me.
I for one am getting a little impatient with the Pacheco thing. I can't understand why he doesn't get more time? He seems to be one hell of a talent and can add to the squad. Seems strange

UEFA charged Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger and midfielder Samir Nasri with improper conduct on Wednesday for comments to referee Massimo Busacca after their team's Champions League elimination against Barcelona.
Wenger argued furiously with the Swiss official on the sidelines after Arsenal's 3-1 loss Tuesday, and the dispute continued in the tunnel. Arsenal lost 4-3 on aggregate.
Wenger was angry that forward Robin van Persie was shown a second yellow card at 1-1 in the 56th minute. Busacca ruled that Van Persie deliberately kicked the ball away when shooting at goal immediately after being ruled offside.
UEFA studied reports from Busacca and match delegate Dane Jost of Slovenia before asking its disciplinary unit to open cases.
Arsenal also must answer a charge that it was responsible for the late kickoffs in the both the first and second half at the Nou Camp, the European football authority said.
UEFA's disciplinary panel will hear the cases on March 17.
Article 10 of UEFA's disciplinary rules states that players or officials should be suspended for at least two European competition matches in cases of ''pestering or insulting any match official.''
Van Persie, who was not charged Wednesday, called his second yellow card a ''total joke.'' The Netherlands forward claimed he hadn't heard Busacca's whistle amid the noise of a 95,000-plus crowd.
''He's been bad all evening, whistling against us. I don't know why he's here tonight,'' Van Persie said. ''We feel betrayed a bit. When it was 1-1 it was all to play for and in my opinion this referee killed the game.''
Wenger said Busacca's decision to send off Van Persie was ''embarrassing.''
''If you play football at a certain level you cannot understand this decision,'' Wenger said. ''To take the decision in that way and how quickly he did it.''
Busacca has been rated one of Europe's top referees for several years and was selected by UEFA to handle the 2009 Champions League final. He won praise as Barcelona beat Manchester United 2-0 in Rome.
The 42-year-old Busacca has also been at the center of controversies.
In September 2009, he aimed an obscene hand gesture at fans who verbally abused him during a Swiss Cup match. He accepted he acted badly, apologized and served a three-match suspension.
''It was just human reaction. Like a player in a game when he uses bad words,'' Busacca told The Associated Press in an interview before leaving for the 2010 World Cup.
However, Busacca found trouble in his first match in South Africa. He sent off the host team's goalkeeper, Itumeleng Khune, in its 3-0 loss against Uruguay for tripping Luis Suarez in the penalty area.
South Africa coach Carlos Alberto Parreira said Busacca ''doesn't deserve to be here,'' and FIFA did not award him another match.

Xavi suggests Arsenal did not even try to play football during Barcelona's 3-1 win that put them through to the Champions League's last eight.
Barca triumphed 4-3 on aggregate in the last-16 tie to progress through to the quarter-finals.
"We were superior to them from start to finish," Xavi told the UEFA website. "We imposed our football, we remained totally loyal to our manner of playing - we demonstrated our personality.
"Arsenal barely had a shot on goal and their only goal was scored by our player.
"They didn't want the ball and our tempo of play and our intensity was always going to see us through."
Teammate Dani Alves paid tribute to Lionel Messi, who scored two goals and was excellent throughout the game.
"Perhaps this was our most difficult game so far in the Champions League this season but we have Messi and he's on a superior level to anyone else," Alves told UEFA.com.
"He's our genius, the guy who pulls us through tough games and he's done it again. He wasn't alone, we all know that Messi was accompanied by a great team tonight but he's the perfect complement to our work."

Arsene Wenger is "convinced" Arsenal would have won their Champions League last-16 clash at Barcelona had Robin van Persie not seen red.
Swiss referee Massimo Busacca controversially sent off Van Persie and awarded Barca the penalty which won them the tie during an exhilarating second leg clash at the Nou Camp.
With Arsenal holding a 2-1 lead from the first leg, Lionel Messi brilliantly levelled the tie before Sergio Busquets' own goal restored Arsenal's advantage.
However, Arsenal's night went quickly sour as Van Persie was harshly dismissed for time-wasting before Xavi's neat finish and a Messi spot-kick saw Barca go through 4-3 on aggregate.
Arsenal failed to register a shot all night and had just 31% possession, before and after Van Persie's dismissal.
However, Wenger said: "I felt Barca gave a lot in the first half. We were completely dominated, I agree with that. But in the second half we felt there was more space, I knew that like the first game we could come back into the game and overall I'm convinced we would have won this game.
"I think two kinds of people will be unhappy - those who love Arsenal, and those who love the game. We are frustrated with his decision. It is very difficult to understand his attitude.
"We lost against a very good Barca side, congratulations to them and good luck for the future.
"But we have many regrets tonight because we didn't expect to lose the game like that. I feel sorry for the people who watched the game tonight."
Wenger confirmed he spoke with the official - and UEFA representatives - but said: "I think he must think that he made the right decision."
He added: "I just spoke to UEFA people. They are shocked as well because it killed a promising, fantastic football match.
"What for? If it's a bad tackle or a second bookable offence okay, but frankly it is embarrassing."
Arsenal held firm in the face of constant Barca pressure for 45 minutes but in first-half added time, Messi brilliantly flicked the ball around substitute goalkeeper Manuel Almunia to put his side a goal up on the night and level on aggregate.
The Londoners regained their overall lead early in the second half, however, as Busquets headed Samir Nasri's corner past his team-mate Victor Valdes in the Barca goal.
But Arsenal's fight was undermined three minutes later when Van Persie was harshly shown a second yellow card for shooting at goal after being caught offside.
That took the wind out of Arsenal and Barca's pressure told again in the 69th minute when Xavi finished off a trademark move to put the match level on aggregate.
The tie was won two minutes later when the otherwise-impressive Laurent Koscielny felled Pedro in the box and from the penalty that followed, Messi coolly placed his side in the Champions League quarter-finals.
Barca coach Pep Guardiola was philosophical about Arsenal's viewpoint, which detracted from a wonderful performance by his team.
"I have got sympathy because I love how this team (Arsenal) play," he said.
"I don't know how they will analyse it in the end, they may analyse that they lost because it was 10 versus 11. It depends.
"I can understand (their view), if it is that they are out of the quarter-final because of the card for Van Persie, then if they believe that then okay. I can understand."

UEFA have confirmed that Robin van Persie will not be able to challenge his controversial sending off against Barcelona on Tuesday night.
The European governing body, who will wait for reports from referee Massimo Busacca and the match delegate at the Nou Camp before deciding whether to take disciplinary action against Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger, said appeals against cautions could only be made on the grounds of mistaken identity.
Busacca showed the Dutch striker a second yellow card for shooting at goal just one second after he had blown the whistle for offside - Van Persie claimed he had not heard it due to the noise of the 95,000-plus crowd.
Wenger confronted the Swiss official after the final whistle over the sending off and the angry exchange continued inside the tunnel.
On Wednesday morning, UEFA confirmed Van Persie cannot appeal against his one-match suspension.
A spokesman said: "Under Article 44.4 of UEFA's disciplinary regulations, appeals are only allowed against cautions on the grounds of mistaken identity."
Van Persie labelled Busacca's decision a "total joke" and said the red card "killed the game" with Barcelona going on to score two more goals and win 3-1, 4-3 on aggregate.
In relation to Wenger, the UEFA spokesman added: "We are waiting for the UEFA match delegate's report and the referee's report. If anything is mentioned then the control and disciplinary department with decided whether decide to open a disciplinary case or not."
UEFA always refuse to comment on the individual performances of referees but they did confirm that Busacca's handling of the match will be evaluated.
The UEFA spokesman added: "Referees are always evaluated. There is a referee observer who evaluates their performance. These are taken into account internally in terms of appointments but we never make that public."

Absolute BS call. This should be his last match for CL, sorry. Either he was biased, bribed, or let his ego get in the way of the match.
Of course it changed the game and the tie. How far away was he from RVP when he blew his whistle? 30 yrds?
Absolutely shameful to ruin the tournament that way....

Lionel Messi scored twice and Barcelona took advantage of Robin Van Persie's ejection to beat Arsenal 3-1 Tuesday night and reach the Champions League quarterfinals on 4-3 aggregate.
Messi scored in the third minute of first-half injury time when he was played clear into the area by Andres Iniesta, then flicked up and over onrushing goalkeeper Manuel Almunia before volleying the ball into the net.
Almunia had replaced injured goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny in the 19th minute.
Despite being outshot 19-0 in the game, Arsenal tied the score 1-1 when Barcelona defender Sergio Busquets headed Samir Nasri's corner kick into his own net in the 53rd.
Van Persie received his second yellow card in the 56th, assessed by Swiss referee Massimo Busacca for time wasting. The Dutch forward motioned that he shot because he didn't hear the whistle due to noise from the crowd of 95,486 in Europe's largest stadium.
''One-second - it's a joke,'' Van Persie said of the time between the whistle and his shot. ''He's been bad all evening, whistling against us. I don't know why he's here tonight,'' Van Persie said. ''We feel betrayed a bit, when it was 1-1 it was all to play for and in my opinion this referee killed the game.''
Xavi Hernandez tied the aggregate score 13 minutes later on a shot that deflected off an Arsenal player, collecting the ball after David Villa guided Iniesta's short pass onto his path.
Messi, the two-time FIFA player of the year, converted a penalty kick in the 71st after Pedro Rodriguez was fouled by Laurent Koscielny.
Busacca gave five yellow cards to the Gunners and none to the Blaugrana. Van Persie was given his first yellow card in the 45th minute for knocking over Daniel Alves.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger thought the ejection changed the match.
''I just spoke to UEFA people, and they are shocked as well,'' Wenger said. ''You promise a fantastic football match, but what for? How he did it, frankly, it's embarrassing for the game.''
Messi has 45 goals this season and a Barcelona-record 33 in European competition, two more than Rivaldo. He leads the Champions League with eight goals this season.
''We lost against a very good Barcelona side,'' Wenger said. ''But we have many regrets tonight because we didn't expect to lose the game like that.''
Barcelona had 68 percent possession and completed 738 passes to Arsenal's 199. But the Gunners had one late chance.
With Arsenal needing only to score once to tie the aggregate and win on the away-goals rule, substitute Nicklas Bendtner's late run on goal was thwarted by Javier Mascherano's tackle as the Gunners were eliminated from the Champions League by Barcelona for the second straight season.
''Wenger told me to congratulate the referee,'' Barcelona coach Pep Guardiola said.
In the night's other game, Ukraine's Shakhtar Donetsk beat visiting Roma 3-0 and advanced on 6-2 aggregate to reach the quarterfinals for the first time.
Tomas Huebschmann scored in the 18th, Willian in the 58th and Eduardo da Silva in the 87th. Shakhtar has not lost at home in more than two years.
Roma defender Philippe Mexes was ejected in the 40th for his second yellow card, for a foul on Luiz Adriano.
