Everton manager David Moyes is adamant he would never consider selling Leon Osman or Tony Hibbert, saying: "They know what the club's about".
Osman has not been certain of first-team football at Goodison Park this season, but has earned more opportunities since the sale of Steven Pienaar and impressed in Saturday's win over Sunderland.

The versatile Hibbert has found it even more difficult to feature in the current campaign and has made just 11 appearances to suggest that he is not a prominent part of Moyes' plans.
But, ahead of Tuesday night's FA Cup meeting with Reading, Everton's manager has dismissed suggestions that he could offload the pair in the summer.
Moyes told the Daily Post: "We've never given up on Ossie.
"As long as I'm here, Ossie will be here - and Tony Hibbert - as long as they want to be here.
"They know what the club's about. They know what's required and they know what I'm about and from that point of view I think they're really important."

On-loan midfielder Stephen Ireland has vowed not to let anybody down as he prepares to make his debut for Newcastle this weekend.

With Joey Barton struggling with a thigh injury and Ryan Taylor suspended for three games after his dismissal in Saturday's draw with Bolton, Ireland could make his United bow at home to Everton on Saturday.
If so, the 24-year-old is determined to prove his worth to manager Alan Pardew and his team-mates.
"I'm really ready to go, give it my best shot and have a good go at getting the team high up the table," Ireland told the Shields Gazette.
"The manager's worked hard to get me, and I'm definitely going to repay him for his efforts in getting me here.
"I don't want to let him or my team-mates down if I get my chance. First and foremost, I want to work hard for my team-mates."
Ireland has so far been bowled over by the reception he has been given by the fans, which has quickly helped him settle.
"I always thought it was a brilliant place to come, and that the fans were appreciative of the players," added Ireland.
"That's what I need as a person and as a player, to invigorate the fans. You get back what you give, and vice versa.
"I've had a walk around the city, and the people here are so nice and polite. They come up and shake your hand, and say 'all the best here'.
"It is nice, and I've got a good feeling for the place. I've felt settled really fast. For me, it's all been positive so far."

Sunderland manager Steve Bruce believes Fraizer Campbell is looking "magnificent" as he closes in on a return to first-team action.
Campbell has not played for the Black Cats since the end of August after rupturing a cruciate knee ligament, described by Bruce at the time as "a tragedy".

The home of the best LIVE soccer and rugby awaits at FoxSoccer.tv -- don't miss a second of the action.

However, the 23-year-old striker is on the verge of a comeback, with the likelihood he will initially be given a reserve run-out.
Campbell could then figure in the Premier League clash with Liverpool on March 20 at the Stadium of Light.
"Fraizer looks magnificent," said Bruce in The Northern Echo. "I have never seen anybody recover from a knee injury as quickly, and when you look at the knee scar, the shape he is in and the condition he is in, it is absolutely fantastic.
"We expect him to play in a week."

Carlo Ancelotti insists victory over Manchester United would be crucial to Chelsea's season, and says the Blues are in a "good moment".
A game with United at Stamford Bridge is perennially billed as a title decider but it appears all Ancelotti's men can achieve on that front on Tuesday night is to dent their opponents' bid to depose them as champions.
Chelsea go into the game a massive 15 points behind Sir Alex Ferguson's side, whose only realistic challengers now look like second-placed Arsenal.

But with the Blues needing victory to climb back above Tottenham into fourth place, manager Ancelotti believes there is still plenty riding on the outcome on Tuesday night.
"It's a very important game for them, for us, for the future of Manchester United and the future of Chelsea," said Ancelotti, whose side put a three-match winless run behind them last week by beating FC Copenhagen in the Champions League.
"We are excited to play this game. We arrive at it at a good moment. We have confidence to do our best and win it. It won't be easy.
"United have been, until now, the best team in the Premier League.
"For us, it's important to win, not just for the result but to improve our confidence after the victory at Copenhagen, where we played very well."
Captain John Terry claimed after that win that Chelsea could yet benefit from a United meltdown.
But Ancelotti said: "United can decide their own destiny.
"Our aim is different at this moment. Our aim is still to compete with them.
"We are not mathematically out so we have to keep believing.
"But we need also to be honest, it would be difficult for us to close the gap.
"We want to arrive in the top four - this is our aim."
United are widely considered to lead the Premier League without having played particularly well for much of the season but Ancelotti was complimentary about their performances.
"They've played consistently," he said, acutely aware his side have failed to do the same.
"They've only lost one league game and are playing focused, concentrated.
"That's why they're top of the table."
For the fourth time in the last five games, Ancelotti's big selection decision revolves around whether to play Fernando Torres, Didier Drogba, or both.
Confirming only that both would "be involved" at some stage against United, Ancelotti added: "They can play together without problem. We're working on that in training.
"They don't have a problem playing with each other."
The Italian refused to be drawn on speculation about Drogba's Stamford Bridge future and once again backed the misfiring Torres to come good.
"Obviously, for a striker it's important to score," he said of the latter, who once again failed to find the net in Copenhagen.
"But, above all in the last game, he played very well.
"He had four opportunities to score and was denied by the goalkeeper and he moved very well for the team.
"He'd have preferred to score, but he will."
Nicolas Anelka appeared to seal his place in the starting line-up on Tuesday night with a deadly double against the Danes.
However, most of the Frenchman's goals have come away from home this season.
Ancelotti said: "Anelka can show his quality when he has space and, at home, it's more difficult for him to find the space.
"It depends on the behaviour of the team during the game.
"Against United, we won't have a lot of space but, if we can move well at the right time, we can find the space to counter-attack them.
"He can show his quality."

Fernando Torres admits it is up to him to adapt to Chelsea's style of play as he looks finally to break his scoring duck for his new club.
Torres has failed to find the back of the net since completing his £50million move from Liverpool last month, although his overall performance improved in last week's Champions League win at FC Copenhagen.

The Spain striker got used to being the focal point of his side's attack during his three-and-a-half years at Anfield.
But he has yet to be indulged on that front by new manager Carlo Ancelotti, who has fielded the 26-year-old in either a three-man attack or alongside a strike partner.
Torres accepts he must learn to play with the likes of Didier Drogba and Nicolas Anelka at Stamford Bridge.
He told his club's official website: "It is my job to understand the game of Nico or the game of Didier Drogba, and to be involved in the routine of the team and know the quality of the players so that's what I am trying to do now."
Torres, who partnered Anelka against Copenhagen last week, added: "The strikers we have depend on the play of the rest of the team.
"With two lines of four the other day, the team played really well and the balance was really good, compact, and they did well, sometimes playing balls behind the centre-backs or sometimes between the lines, and Nico likes to play like this."
Tuesday would be the perfect time for Torres to net his first Chelsea goal and he has reason to feel confident against a Manchester United defence he has a habit of tormenting.
United captain Nemanja Vidic has twice been sent off playing against the Spaniard and will be without injured regular partner Rio Ferdinand at Stamford Bridge.
Torres said: "You want to play well against these players to show you can do it, and Vidic and Ferdinand were always a big challenge for me, so I hoped they could both play.
"Some people prefer big players not to be playing but I prefer to play against these kinds of players."
With United 15 points clear of Chelsea, retaining their title appears all but out of the question for Torres' side.
But he added of Tuesday's match: "This will be an interesting game because it can make us come back to fight for the title.
"It is one of the most important games of the season right now, and if we win this one, we are closer to them and we will still have one more game against them."

Carlos Vela snatched a controversial equaliser three minutes from time to give West Brom a 1-1 draw against Stoke at the Britannia Stadium.
The on-loan Mexico international appeared to have been offside before he converted Steven Reid's cross but there was no flag and the Baggies escaped with a point which lifted them out of the Premier League's bottom three.
Midfielder Rory Delap's second goal of the season had put the hosts ahead in the 53rd minute in what had been an uninspiring game up to that point.
West Brom seemed to have undone all their hard work in hanging on in the early stages by switching off at a crucial time to allow the 34-year-old to take full advantage.

But in a spirited climax Roy Hodgson's side proved they have the appetite and spirit for a relegation fight and in truth they could have snatched the win as it was Stoke hanging on at the end.
Hodgson is still awaiting his first victory after taking two points from his first two matches since succeeding Roberto Di Matteo.
The criticism of the Italian was that his style was too open - Hodgson inherited the worst defensive record in the top flight - but old habits die hard and there remains plenty of work to be done if the Baggies are to survive with 10 matches remaining.
Hodgson tried to find a solution in the short term by bringing in the likes of Abdoulaye Meite for his first league appearance in nearly a year, setting up his team to cope with the physical battle he anticipated they would come under but the Baggies were keen to get their retaliation in first.
Striker Marc-Antoine Fortune escaped with no more punishment than a free-kick for flooring Danny Pugh with a leading arm but Youssuf Mulumbu gave referee Michael Oliver plenty of warning of his intentions, chasing back 40 yards to chop down Kenwyne Jones after losing possession to the striker, and was duly booked.
Jermaine Pennant forced a decent save from Scott Carson, making his first appearance since January 4, and the winger proved to be Stoke's main threat - Delap's long throw apart - in the first half.
But the closest he came to breaking the deadlock was just before the interval when he curled a free-kick on to the top of the angle of post and crossbar.
West Brom may have the top flight's leakiest defence but they regularly pose a threat in the final third.
Graham Dorrans and Fortune both tested Asmir Begovic with shots from the left and right of the penalty area respectively while Paul Scharner should have at least done the same just before the interval but bobbled a 16-yard volley wide.
There was little quality on show in the first half and after the interval glitches even crept into Delap's reliable delivery, with the midfielder throwing one effort straight out for a goal-kick.
Fortunately his close-range radar was unaffected and it was he who finally rose above the mediocrity - and Dorrans - to head home Pennant's 53rd-minute corner from three yards.
Delap's free header at the near post was symptomatic of the problems West Brom have experienced this season.
The goal finally injected some life into the game, with Brunt (twice) and Stoke's Jon Walters both worrying their opposing goalkeepers with shots from distance.
Begovic was the busier of the two goalkeepers, saving Dorrans' header with his legs after it deflected wickedly off Ryan Shawcross while watching helplessly as Fortune's looping header dropped onto the crossbar and over.
West Brom pressed for an equaliser but often they were guilty of trying too hard, with substitute Somen Tychoyi blazing well over from the edge of the penalty area.
But the visitors had a stroke of luck three minutes from time with their equaliser.
Reid swung in a right-wing cross and substitute Vela poked the ball past Begovic from close range despite appearing to have benefited from coming back from an offside position.
There was still enough time for Begovic to be required to make three crucial saves as West Brom sensed a late shock.
Vela proved you cannot write off West Brom with the chances they create but if they are to achieve top-flight survival it is the other end of the pitch they have to work on.

Alves wants to stay at Barca

Barcelona full-back Dani Alves believes his future lies at the Nou Camp, despite failing to agree a new contract with the Catalan club.
Alves' current deal at Barca runs out at the end of next season and talks are ongoing to extend the Brazil defender's time in Catalonia.
But weeks on from the initial conversations, an agreement still appears no closer.

In the meantime, Alves has been linked with a big-money summer move to Manchester City, but the former Sevilla star says he cannot imagine playing for any other club than Barca.
"I can't imagine Alves without Barcelona," he said. "If it were up to me, I would stay. But it doesn't depend (solely) on me, it depends on two parties.
"If there is an agreement, it will be very welcome, but if the contrary happens, life goes on."
Alves admits talks have broken down, but hopes conversations with Barca resume shortly in order to clear up the issue.
"My dream and my desire are to stay here - I hope everything is resolved soon," he said.
"I'm optimistic, but we haven't spoken about the subject again.
"It's not just money; it's other things too."
Alves has helped Barca win eight trophies in his three seasons at the club and could be in line for a ninth in the Primera Division this term after Pep Guardiola's side went seven points clear of fierce rivals Real Madrid at the weekend.
That came about thanks to Madrid's goalless draw at Deportivo La Coruna and Alves believes the bigger the advantage, the better.
"Real Madrid are human and they fail (sometimes)," he said.
"Now we are seven points clear again, but there are a lot more to play for - the bigger distance we have the better."
Madrid coach Jose Mourinho complained this week that Barca are given favourable playing slots in league matches, but Alves has rejected such talk as psychology on the part of the Portuguese.
"Whatever happens, draw or lose, we won't complain about the calendar," he said.
"Excuses don't work here, only work.
"Mourinho is very intelligent because he tries to deflect the attention away from his team and onto himself, but his comments won't destabilise us."
Barca are likely to be without goalkeeper Victor Valdes and captain Carles Puyol for the Primera Division clash at Valencia tomorrow as the defensive duo make their way back from injury, but Xavi has returned to training and could feature at Mestalla.
Mestalla is the only current top flight ground at which Guardiola has failed to win since taking over at Barca and Valencia winger Joaquin Sanchez says his on-form side are prepared to suffer in tomorrow's match.
"It's clear that we will suffer like never before because Barcelona are a great team," he said.
"But we will try to impose our game and make sure they don't feel comfortable at Mestalla."
Valencia consolidated third place in the league on Sunday with a hard-fought 2-1 win at Athletic Bilbao.
That was an eighth win in the last 10 matches for Unai Emery's side, who lost 2-1 at the Nou Camp earlier this season and are 17 points behind Barca after 25 rounds of the Primera Division.
David Albelda and Aritz Aduriz are set to miss out again through injury.

Barcelona coach Pep Guardiola may miss his team's Spanish league match at Valencia due to lower back pain.
The Spanish champions say Guardiola missed training Tuesday to undergo treatment for the problem and may not make the trip to Valencia on Wednesday. Assistant coach Tito Vilanova will take charge if the 40-year-old Guardiola is unable to make it.
While Guardiola was absent from training, Xavi Hernandez continued his recovery from a leg injury. Defender Carles Puyol and goalkeeper Victor Valdes again trained separately with next week's Champions League match against Arsenal in mind.
Barcelona goes to third-place Valencia with a seven-point lead over Real Madrid.

Having fallen seven points behind Spanish leader Barcelona, Real Madrid has more than one reason not to want former coach Manuel Pellegrini's Malaga to become the first team to take any points from Santiago Bernabeu Stadium this season.
The match on Thursday will be the first meeting between Pellegrini and Madrid since he was fired after last season.
The Chilean's task is immense with Malaga in last place and Madrid having won all 20 games at the Bernabeu this season, ahead of the match later Monday against Almeria.

After 25 rounds last year under Pellegrini, Madrid had one more point and led the standings before eventually succumbing to Barcelona.
Madrid coach Jose Mourinho has guided his team to the Copa del Rey final and it is in a position to reach the Champions League quarterfinals for the first time since 2004. But the league race appears to be slipping away.
Mourinho said the scheduling - all teams are playing three times in nine days - hasn't helped.
"Seven points are a lot, but until the numbers say it is not possible and the difference is definitive, we'll keep fighting," the Portuguese coach said after Saturday's 0-0 draw at Deportivo La Coruna.
Kaka has played only one third of possible minutes since returning from injury. The Brazil playmaker has failed to discover his best form since moving from AC Milan in June 2009 and has only two goals, leading to suggestions in the Spanish media that Madrid may look to unload its ?65 million ($90 million) acquisition.
Cristiano Ronaldo has only two goals in his past nine games, with Madrid having scored 12 fewer times at this point than last year under Pellegrini.
Madrid's 55 goals is one less than Barcelona trio Lionel Messi (26), David Villa (17) and Pedro Rodriguez (13) have combined for this season.
Messi scored his 42nd goal in all competitions in Saturday's 3-0 win at Mallorca, controlling a looping pass with his forehead before using his head again to guide the ball into the net. It was another sublime display from the the Argentina forward that didn't revolve around his favored left foot.
Barcelona will have fullback Daniel Alves back from suspension for Wednesday's match at Valencia and could select Xavi Hernandez after the Spain midfielder missed Saturday's 3-0 win at Mallorca due to a leg injury.
Xavi trained normally on Monday, while defender Carles Puyol and goalkeeper Victor Valdes practiced apart from the squad and are unlikely to play at Mestalla Stadium.
"We like to play two games per week to be better prepared and so there's little time to disconnect," Barcelona defender Gerard Pique said. "Regardless who we play, the team will also play at its best."
Valencia rallied for a 2-1 win at Athletic Bilbao to increase its lead over fourth-place Villarreal to four points in the race for the last automatic qualifying spot for next season's Champions League. Valencia is unbeaten in 11 league games, which includes eight victories.
Villarreal hasn't won for five games but the team overcame a poor performance to draw 2-2 at Racing Santander on Sunday. Villarreal plays Wednesday against relegation-battling Hercules, which has won only once in seven games to sit two points above 17th-place Zaragoza and the drop zone.
Bilbao needs to end a three-game losing streak in Wednesday's match against Zaragoza if it hopes to challenge Villarreal for the last Champions League place.
The Basque club is sixth to trail Villarreal by nine points, while Espanyol is two points above in fifth place.
In other 26th-round games, it's: Espanyol vs. Mallorca; Sevilla vs. Sporting Gijon; Getafe vs. Atletico Madrid; Osasuna vs. Deportivo La Coruna; Real Sociedad vs. Levante; and Almeria vs. Racing Santander.

"The player will work outside the group for an indefinite period and will not participate in any games."
Full-back Miguel, 31, is in his sixth season with Valencia, but has been strongly linked with a move to England.

Malaga rallied to beat short-handed Almeria 3-1 on Monday and move off the bottom of the Spanish league table.
Sofiane Feghouli finished off Antonio Luna's centering pass to put Almeria ahead after eight minutes. Enzo Maresca then controlled the ball inside the area to score a 52nd-minute equalizer before Jose Ulloa picked up a second yellow card for elbowing Eliseu in the 76th.
Two minutes later, Jose Rondon scored the winner with a header from Antonio "Apono" Galdeano's pass.
Almeria was left with nine men after Luna was shown a red card in the 88th and Juanmi Jimenez added the insurance with a goal in the third minute of injury time.
Malaga ended a seven-game winless run to move two points above Almeria, which is now last.

Substitute Jonas scored his first goal for Valencia in a come-from-behind 2-1 victory at Athletic Bilbao in the Spanish league on Sunday.
Jonas, who led the Brazilian league in scoring before moving to Valencia in January, slotted home in the 81st minute from inside the box after goalkeeper Gorka Iraizoz had failed to hold on to Tino Costa's long-range shot.
The win allowed Valencia to open up a four-point advantage in third place over Villarreal, which earlier rallied for a 2-2 draw at Racing Santander.

Valencia goalkeeper Vicente Guaita was troubled by Fernando Llorente throughout the match, the Bilbao striker forcing an early save before scoring his 14th goal of the season. The Spain striker received the ball inside the box and held off defender David Navarro before turning to poke it home in the 14th minute.
Valencia had two penalty shouts waved away on a rainy night at the San Mames Stadium before Iraizoz denied Pablo Hernandez's long-range blast in the 45th minute in a match of relentless chances.
Llorente terrorized Valencia's defense - which was without Portugal fullback Miguel, who is serving out a club-imposed ban - and was denied from another shot in the 64th.
Valencia's pressure finally paid off in the 71st. Bruno Saltor sent Joaquin Sanchez speeding down the right, and the Valencia winger picked out Juanma Mata at the far post with a perfect cross pass for the equalizing goal.
After Brazilian striker Jonas put the visitors ahead, Guaita denied Igor Gabilondo and Llorente before Gabilondo fired a rising shot just wide of post.
While Valencia picked up its eighth win in 10 games, Bilbao endured a third straight loss but stayed sixth in the last European spot - two points behind Espanyol and three more than Sevilla.
Substitute Nilmar scored an injury-time equalizer as a lackluster Villarreal managed a 2-2 draw at Santander.
Brazil striker Nilmar jumped toward goal to help nudge a deflected corner over the goal line in the second minute of injury time after Giovani Dos Santos' 68th-minute goal had appeared to give Santander a third straight win since coach Marcelino Garcia Toral's arrival.
Pedro Munitis found Dos Santos in stride and the Mexico forward shot low past goalkeeper Diego Lopez, who made a number of important saves as Villarreal salvaged a point at El Sardinero Stadium.
Ariel Nahuelpan gave the hosts the lead after just three minutes when the Algerian striker raced into the area to head Pablo Pinillos' centering pass into goal.
Villarreal labored to a Europa League win over Napoli on Thursday and the team appeared drained from that physical match as it struggled to find its rhythm with Cani's shot on goal its only attempt of the first half.
Substitute Marco Ruben pulled Villarreal even after guiding Jose Manuel Catala's cross into goal with a 66th-minute header.

The home of the best LIVE soccer and rugby awaits at FoxSoccer.tv -- don't miss a second of the action.

After Dos Santos replied with his first Santander goal, both Lopez and Villarreal goalkeeper Antonio Rodriguez made saves down the stretch before a frantic finish paid off for the visitors, who still slipped to a fourth domestic game without a win.
"It was a very difficult, very open game," said Villarreal coach Juan Carlos Garrido, who was sent off during the second half. "We kept a cool head."
Earlier, Felipe Caicedo scored the winner as Levante beat Osasuna 2-1 for its fourth win in five games.
The Ecuador striker took advantage of goalkeeper Ricardo Lopez's hesitation in the 50th for his 10th goal of the season.
Walter Pandiani headed Osasuna ahead after 41 minutes before Sergio Ballesteros struck the equalizer three minutes later at the Ciutat de Valencia stadium.
Levante moved one point above Osasuna - which hasn't won away in more than one year - and three clear of Zaragoza, which occupies the last relegation place.
Also, Getafe drew 0-0 at Hercules, which has one win in its last six to sit two points above Zaragoza.
Lionel Messi scored his league-leading 26th goal Saturday in Barcelona's 3-0 victory at Mallorca, which stretched the two-time Spanish champion's lead in the standings to seven points after Real Madrid drew 0-0 at Deportivo La Coruna.
The 25th-round of games ends Monday when Almeria plays Malaga in a match-up of the bottom two.
In Saturday's other games, it was: Espanyol 4, Real Sociedad 1; Atletico Madrid 2, Sevilla 2; and Sporting Gijon 0, Zaragoza 0.
