Margaret Thatcher funeral: a "fitting tribute?"

Margaret Thatcher funeral: a "fitting tribute?"

Paying tribute to Margaret Thatcher, the UN Security Council stood in silent tribute, except for Argentina's UN Ambassador whose seat is empty, according to the Associated Press news agency.

The former UK prime minister sent British troops to the Falkland Islands in 1982 after Argentina invaded.

Argentina's Maria Cristina Perceval returns to her seat after the silence to hear the Rwandan Foreign Minister Louise Mushikiwabo, whose country holds the council presidency, express the council's "deepest sympathy for the Boston senseless killings".

Laughable! Laughable because all those are liberal outlets. I would never for a single solitary second expect them to be favorable to a conservative icon like Margaret Thatcher.

What media outlet is not liberal by your standards, pray tell

What party is she from? I bet you it's Labour. So that right there should tell you.

But then we wouldn't expect the Conservatives to protest about the costs.

They are the government! They can't complain against themselves, can they now?

Then why the hell are they jumping the gun if they don't have an agenda?

An estimate is the best you can get at the moment. And expecting them to wait until they get the breakdown is not practical

They can protest for the rest of their lives if they want. After all, it's their civil right.
That's why they are protesting right now.

Thatcher was a taxpayer too, wasn't she? And doesn't the government set aside a budget for the royal family's upkeep? Why aren't they kicking up a stink about it?

Thatcher was a taxpayer who preached individualism.

Why should other taxpayers pay for her funeral?

She was a former head of government and so she deserves it. Others got it so why shouldn't she?

How much does she deserve?

The Weekly Standard, Fox News, New York Post, etc.

Of course they can. I would like to think each one of them thinks for him or herself and if there is something that runs counter to their principles then they would air their views and not just sit back silently and be blind ideological followers.

An estimate is the best you can get at the moment. And expecting them to wait until they get the breakdown is not practical

Whether they wait or not that's on them. The lady is getting her due sendoff and they are free to exercise their civil right.

Thatcher was a taxpayer who preached on individualism.

Why should other taxpayers pay for her funeral?

So what do they want her to do now? She is dead and she is not the one who is making her funeral arrangement.

How much does she deserve?

Everything stipulated by law and what other prime ministers got when they expired.

She said "there is no such thingblike a society..only the individual families".....

Nadhani huyu mama angepongezwa kwa kutokua mnafiki..Hata hapa bongo viongozi wana preach kuhus society yet wana implement Individualism..Wanajidai kuna democracy yet udikteta na ubabe..
Upuuzi mtupu

Kuwa "the only woman to have held office" kunahusiana vipi na kukubalika kwake?

That is significant because she broke through the glass ceiling.

People didn't judge her based on her gender but judged her based on merit.

You can't deny it's significance.

News flash: You are allowed to think anything

It just doesn't mean it works that way

Whether they wait or not that's on them.

If that is your stance, then why did you get your knickers in a bunch a few posts earlier?

Two, they say "we won't know the exact figure". Well, then they should shut up until they know for sure what they are talking about.

Third, they don't know for sure who is footing the bill. Again, they should shut up until they know for a fact
