Margaret Thatcher funeral: a "fitting tribute?"

Margaret Thatcher funeral: a "fitting tribute?"

Probably because of this?

If Mandela despised her so much why then did he bother paying her a visit?

Watu wanavyoshangilia utadhani na wao hawatakufa na kuacha wapendwa wao wakiwa hai. Washenzi kabisa hao.

Because of politics.

First, what politics?

Second, where are his principles? Because I smell fakerism all over...

Third, her supporters can argue too that she supported the Apartheid regime because of politics. Will that wash? I doubt it.

yeye alisema hakuna society...kila mtu kivyake tu
so hao taxpayers hawalipiwi mazishi ya 10 million pounds....

Naomba source, tafadhali.

Ila kweli inaelekea hakubaliki hata kidogo kwa wengi. Ila malkia amehudhuria!!!

Margaret Thatcher's funeral will cost around £10m, although we won't know the exact figure - and how much of it is being spent by the state - until afterwards. What else can £10m pay for? Here are some ideas

One, how did they arrive at that figure? Nobody knows - at least there is no specific breakdown of the expenses.

Two, they say "we won't know the exact figure". Well, then they should shut up until they know for sure what they are talking about.

Third, they don't know for sure who is footing the bill. Again, they should shut up until they know for a fact.

Fourth, the source is the Guardian. This is perhaps the foremost liberal newspaper in the UK. Need I say more? It's like expecting the New York Times to publish anything favorable to Ronald Reagan or George H. W. Bush.

Hakukubalika kivipi wakati yeye ndiyo longest serving British Prime Minister of the 20th Century and the only woman to have held the office?

She won 3 straight elections, FYI.

In 1987, Margaret Thatcher said, "The ANC is a typical terrorist organisation ... Anyone who thinks it is going to run the government in South Africa is living in cloud-cuckoo land."

In 1990, when Mandela declined to meet Thatcher on a trip to London, Conservative MP Terry Dicks asked: "How much longer will the Prime Minister allow herself to be kicked in the face by this black terrorist?"

Another MP (Teddy Taylor) added "Nelson Mandela should be shot."

But Mandella had always wanted to meet Thatcher to express the ANC's objections to her policy, but the ANC never wanted him to meet her.

In his first visit to the UK, Mandela wanted to meet Thatcher, but the ANC delegates refused. It is reported that Mandela was very angry.

It was reported earlier Mandela's daughter would attend the funeral. Who knows, may it is the ANC again which blocked the family to attend the funeral.

Mkuu NN, sikatai was the longest serving PM in the UK.

The source is not only the Guardian.

BBC, the New York Times and all other media are quoting the same figure.

Shadow Health Minister, Dianne Abbott was quoted giving that same 'estimate' figure when interviewed by the BBC

"I think it's important that somebody speaks up about the cost," she told the BBC's Radio Four Today programme. "Ten million when you're cutting disabled people's benefits, I don't think the public understands that."

Of course there is no specific breakdown of the expenses.

You expecting the government to give the breakdown before the funeral?

Two, they say "we won't know the exact figure". Well, then they should shut up until they know for sure what they are talking about.

You cant expect people to protest a month or two after the funeral

It wont have the impact its supposed to have

Besides, the protest is not just about the figure, its more about the audacity of the government to use taxpayers money for Thatcher's funeral

Third, they don't know for sure who is footing the bill. Again, they should shut up until they know for a fact.

They know very well who is footing the bill.

The government, because its a state funeral

Kuwa "the only woman to have held office" kunahusiana vipi na kukubalika kwake?

Laughable! Laughable because all those are liberal outlets. I would never for a single solitary second expect them to be favorable to a conservative icon like Margaret Thatcher.

Shadow Health Minister, Dianne Abbott was quoted giving that same 'estimate' figure when interviewed by the BBC

What party is she from? I bet you it's Labour. So that right there should tell you.

Of course there is no specific breakdown of the expenses.

You expecting the government to give the breakdown before the funeral?

Then why the hell are they jumping the gun if they don't have an agenda?

You cant expect people to protest a month or two after the funeral

They can protest for the rest of their lives if they want. After all, it's their civil right.

It wont have the impact its supposed to have

Besides, the protest is not just about the figure, its more about the audacity of the government to use taxpayers money for Thatcher's funeral

Thatcher was a taxpayer too, wasn't she? And doesn't the government set aside a budget for the royal family's upkeep? Why aren't they kicking up a stink about it?

They know very well who is footing the bill.

The government, because its a state funeral

She was a former head of government and so she deserves it. Others got it so why shouldn't she?
