A 50-year-old man has been stabbed to death in a dispute over meat donated by Dunyaruguru County MP Benjamin Cadet in Rubirizi District.
The deceased, identified as Joachim Tumwebaze, a resident of Mubanda D Village in Ryeru Sub-county, was attacked on Thursday night following a disagreement over the sharing of meat that had been donated to residents. According to witnesses, a group of villagers had gathered to receive portions of the donated meat when an argument broke out between Tumwebaze and another resident believed to be in his twenties.

The suspect allegedly used a sharp tool that had been used during the slaughtering process to stab Tumwebaze. The victim was rushed to Rubirizi Medical Centre but was pronounced dead upon arrival due to excessive bleeding.

Greater Bushenyi Regional Police spokesperson Apollo Tayebwa confirmed the incident, saying the suspect fled immediately after the attack and is currently on the run. Police have launched a manhunt and appealed to members of the public to provide any information that could lead to the suspect’s arrest.

The body was taken to Rugazi Health Centre IV mortuary for a postmortem examination as investigations continue.
