Kenya Railways has cautioned members of the public against fraudulent websites and social media platforms impersonating the corporation and claiming to offer booking services for the Madaraka Express Passenger Service.
In a public notice issued on Wednesday, the corporation warned that the fake platforms have been created to deceive unsuspecting customers into making payments through unauthorised channels, exposing them to financial loss and possible compromise of their personal information.
Kenya Railways urged passengers to book SGR tickets only through its official channels, including the Madaraka Express online booking portal, the *639# USSD service, or by visiting any Madaraka Express Passenger Service station. It also clarified that official customer communication is only conducted through its designated telephone numbers.
The corporation emphasized that it will not be held responsible for losses arising from transactions made through unofficial websites, phone numbers or social media accounts. It advised travellers to verify the authenticity of any booking platform before making payments and to remain vigilant against online scams targeting SGR passengers.
