2) prevent likelyhood of friendly fire through cordinate assault from different fronts esp in close contact ambushes eg surronding a small metropolis. (be advised to create the somali picture to understand better).
4) they are also cheap to service and operate

Well said. Some sidekicks here criticise every move KDF makes. They do not know its technology that matters not like four decades ago where procuring a single katyusha multiple launch rocket was effective against idi amin. I want to know what weapons modern the jwtz has. That aside even armies need to be taught on modern technology. Kenya in africa apart from few let say four other countries has a very high modern capability which is unrivalled in the region.

You're right. But because the "war industry" of the US gains so much in selling weapons I don't think this will happen any time soon. What we need to do is to go the Chinese way. They have created several faculty in reputable university whose role is solely to deconstruct manufactured goods (as small as a button or as large as a concord) and reconstruct them using cheaper material and enhanced technology, for mass prodction. with these modification they are able to avoid the intellectual property claims from the first author/creator. If we wait for the US to give permission we could wait forever!

What has Kenya achieved in Somalia so far ? I think nothing except getting US$ 41 million from USA . I believe they have already spend much more than that in this futile adventure.
