1. POSITION: Senior Maintenance Planner

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

North Mara Gold Mine Limited is seeking to recruit Senior Maintenance Planner to join Underground Maintenance team. The successful candidates for this position will carry out assigned maintenance planning tasks within the guidelines of Company Standard Operating Procedures and best Practice as well as other assigned tasks within the range of competencies. The position will report to the UG Maintenance Superintendent.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Ensure a healthy and safe working environment for all employees.
  • Ensure all Barrick Safe work practices are observed and implemented in the Underground Maintenance Section
  • Ensure preparation and execution of maintenance plans and schedules are implemented on the required dates and times
  • Ensure Underground Mobile Fleet perform to pre-determined performance measures in Safety, availability, reliability and cost.
  • Ensure all cost are controlled on a day to day basis
  • Efficient organizing of personnel time/schedule.
  • Inspection and evaluation of all relevant equipment
  • Manage all planned maintenance activities in Underground Mobile Fleet
  • Maintain and review all planned maintenance schedules for all equipment
  • Administrate the planned maintenance system of Underground Mobile Fleet
  • Liaising with functional heads to develop appropriate maintenance plans for all equipment
  • Coordinate all maintenance activities planned/unplanned
  • Liaise with supply chain to ensure all maintenance spares issues are addressed
  • Assist to prepare maintenance budgets for the Underground Mobile Fleet
  • Coordinate department stock/Purchase requisition and address all issues thereof
  • Develop and proved accurate maintenance reports and presentations for all relevant stakeholders
  • Liaise with all relevant parties to ensure effective operation of the maintenance system
  • Keep accurate records of all condition monitoring activities
  • Liaise with relevant OEMs and Consultants for the provision of effective support to all maintenance
  • Develop and train all staff and direct reports, develop both training and succession plan.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
  • A degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent relevant trade qualification from a recognized institution
  • A Mechanical Trade Certification is highly desired.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
  • A minimum of five (5) years’ experience in Maintenance Planning techniques will be highly regarded
  • Experience with Sandvik and Caterpillar machinery is mandatory
  • Previous expat experience in mining industry high desired
  • Must demonstrate good oral / written communication skills in English
  • Maintains and manages maintenance work order backlog
  • Long term planning – major component change out monitoring and scheduling
  • Applies predictive, proactive and preventative measures to improve equipment reliability.
  • Asset management and produce equipment cost analysis report
2. POSITION: Underground Mechanical Trainers

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

North Mara Gold Mine Limited is seeking to recruit one Underground Mechanical Trainers to join Underground Maintenance team. The successful candidate for this position will carry out assigned mechanical tasks within the guidelines of Company Standard Operating Procedures and Best Practice as well as other assigned tasks within the range of competencies. The position will report to the Mobile Maintenance Superintendent.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Ensure a healthy and safe working environment for all employees.
  • Maintaining, repairing mechanical issues, diagnostics / Fault Finding and Routine inspection on a variety of UG machines Coordinate activities in the unit and report back to Mobile Maintenance Superintendent.
  • Ensure that mobile equipment is maintained in a safe and cost effective manner.
  • Ensure all Barrick safe work practices are observed, and implemented in the department of responsibility.
  • Ensure the preparation and execution of maintenance plans and schedules on the basis of daily, weekly and monthly mining and ore processing priorities.
  • Supervising, training, developing and nationalization of the maintenance team.
  • End of month reporting of maintenance performance against plan.
  • The quality, cost and timeliness of maintenance activities are critical to the project as a whole.
  • Ensure maintenance costs are kept to, or below assigned budget.
  • Display a sense of urgency to ensure timely repair and maintenance of mine equipment.
  • Contribute to the operations by ensuring that all maintenance activities are planned and completed in a cost effective manner with minimal disruption to ore processing and mining activities.
  • Demonstrate commitment to safe work practices by example and act immediately on any unsafe act or situation observed and monitor standards.
  • Actively promote and foster the development of a pro-active site safety behaviors that makes safety an integral part of all work activities.
  • Identify and rectify/report specific hazards using Job Safety Analysis (JSA) process.
  • Assist with accident/incident investigation and with the induction and training of new employees.
  • Ensure all employees reporting to this position attend safety related training courses and engage in any of the company’s safety initiatives.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
  • A relevant trade qualification in mechanical or Technician Certificate from a recognized institution.
  • A Mechanical Trade Certification is highly desired.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
  • Minimum of 8 years’ Artisanal experience in mechanical fitting and mobile equipment maintenance.
  • Demonstrated competencies in the rebuild and servicing of underground mining mobile equipment’s.
  • Well-developed oral and written communication skills as well as the ability to interact with People of diverse cultures and levels.
SKILLS / KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS:
  • Strong Safety Background and ability to drive a Safe working environment and practices.
  • Excellent communication skills in English, both written and verbal.
  • Computer skills –MS Excel, Access, Word, Outlook.
  • Hazard Identification & Risk Assessment.
  • Driving ability.

3. POSITION: Shotcrete Expert

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

Bulyanhulu Gold Mine is seeking to recruit Shotcrete Expert to join our team. The successful candidate for this position is expected to align to the Barrick DNA and drive a change within his team and the business and on a practical note will ensure activities in the Underground Mining are effectively planned and undertaken in a safe and cost effective manner to achieve targets in accordance to BGML Mining Safety Standards, Policies and Procedures.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Maintain records of mining/batching operations
  • Monitor movements of underground equipment
  • Coordinate activities and instruct personnel on the correct shotcrete rig operation and maintenance.
  • Assist FFL to co-ordinate shotcrete activity throughout the shift.
  • Train operators in the operation, use and maintenance of full mechanized NORMET shotcrete rigs.
  • Ensure compliance to shotcreting QAQC through the use of Round Determinant Panels (RDPs), Ultimate Compressive Strength (UCS) and beam testing.  Monitor and ensure compliance with penetrometer testing post spraying.
  • Maintain rigs post utilisation to ensure a high level of availability.
  • Improve and streamline shotcrete batching processes
  • Facilitate not only training in Spraymec operation, but batching and Agi operation also
  • Safe and Effective Compliance to daily Pre Start equipment inspections and Operation
  • Perform Field Level Risk Assessments and Entry Examinations at the work areas and ensure the health and safety of team members, visitors and contractors at the working area.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
  • High level of experience with Normet Spraymecs
  • Experience in shotcrete batching processes and Agi operation.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
  • 5 years’ experience in Underground Mechanised Shotcreting
  • 3 years’ experience in Supervisors / Trainers capacity
SKILLS / KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS:
  • Knowledge and exposure to developing, implementing and maintaining a QAQC program for shotcreting.
  • Working knowledge and exposure to Normet Spraymecs
  • Exposure to industry best practices in mechanised shotcreting, utilisation of a Normet Spreymec in a rapid development, in-cycle capacity is highly desirable.
  • Ability to work and prioritise in a high-pressure environment
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work as a team leader
  • Strong knowledge of risk management and problem-solving techniques
  • Extensive understanding of Underground Mining operations
  • Ability to provide quality verbal communication and written reports
  • Facilitate knowledge transfer of skill set required to operate and maintain a fully mechanised shotcrete machine
  • Excellent communication in English ,both writing and verbal
  • Hazard identification and Risk assessment
  • Mine health &Safety Act awareness
