Summary: Sri Lanka Health-Care System

Sri Lanka has a mainly government-funded health-care system, where public health services are generally provided free at the point of use. Health care is organized into primary, secondary, and tertiary levels. Primary care focuses on prevention and basic treatment, while hospitals provide specialist and advanced care.

The country has strong preventive health programs, including immunization, maternal and child health, and disease prevention. A private health sector also operates alongside public services. Sri Lanka additionally provides traditional medicine such as Ayurveda.

Major challenges include an ageing population, increasing chronic diseases, unequal access to some specialist services, and pressure on health-care resources.

The Washington Post+1

Norway — sovereign wealth fund: Oil and gas revenues are placed into a large sovereign wealth fund, with the investment returns supporting public finances. Unlike the Trump proposal, Norway does not generally send an annual equal cash dividend to every citizen

[the ostrich eggs]

Gulf states: Countries such as Kuwait and the UAE have various forms of citizen benefits, transfers and subsidized services funded by hydrocarbon wealth, but they generally aren't structured as an equal annual “dividend” like Alaska's

[the ostrich eggs]

Iran — energy-subsidy cash transfers: Iran introduced nationwide cash payments as part of its energy-subsidy reform, effectively returning part of the fiscal value of energy resources/subsidy reform directly to households. It isn't a tariff dividend

[the ostrich eggs]

Alberta (Canada) — has used oil-resource revenues for citizen payments, although its system isn't the same as Alaska's permanent dividend

Mongolia — distributed mining revenues to citizens through various programs.

Iran — introduced large-scale direct cash payments when it reformed energy subsidies.

Alaska (US) — annual dividend to eligible residents. The 2026 dividend is $1,200.
