‘Newton’s law of cooling’ (kanuni ya upoaji).

Kanuni hiyo inaeleza kuwa, kiasi cha joto cha kitu fulani kinachopotezwa katika muda fulani, kinategemea na utofauti wa joto ridi kati ya hicho kitu na mazingira yaliyokizunguka kitu hicho kitu, endapo tu kama utofauti wa joto ridi lao ni dogo.

Kwa kanuni hii ya Newton, watu wote waliosoma fizikia duniani kote, walilazimishwa kuamini kuwa kitu chenye joto dogo kitapoteza joto lake kwa haraka zaidi kuliko kile chenye joto la juu.

Mwaka 1963, Mtanzania aitwaye Erasto Mpemba alifanikiwa kufanya ugunduzi ambao moja kwa moja uliweza kupingana na ile kanuni ya Newton.

Mpemba alibaini kuwa, maji yaliyochemka yakiwekwa kwenye jokofu pamoja na maji yenye ubaridi wa kawaida, yale yaliyochemka yanaganda haraka zaidi na kuwa barafu kuliko yale yenye ubaridi wa kawaida.

Newton anasema
"The rate of cooling/temperature change of an object/liquid/substance is directly proportional to the temperature difference of an object and its sorrounding temperature.
Yani dr/dt=k(t1-t2)
Where k is constant.
The same apply to Mpemba..
The hot fluid will cool more fast than the cold one... Ile difference ya temperature kati ya kitu na mazingira yake ikiwa kubwa basi ndio rate ya kupoa inakuwa kubwa zaidi....
Assume temperature ya maji ni 80 na mazingira/friji ni 10....
Ina maana rate of cooling.
dr/dt=k(80-10)=k70.
Na maji yawe na temp ya 15 na sorroind iwe 10 ile ile.
dr/dt=k(15-10)=k5
Huoni yale yenye temperature kubwa yana rate of cooling kubwa???
Niseme tu MPEMBA alirudia kile Newton alichowaza...

Maji ya ubaridi wa kawaida ukilinganisha na nyuzi joto la jokofu kuna utofauti mdogo wa joto ridi, hivyo hukubaliana na Newton's law of cooling.

Maji ya moto ukilinganisha na nyuzi joto la jokofu kuna utofauti mkubwa; hali hiyo haijagusiwa na Newton's law of motion kwa sababu law imesisitiza kuwe na utofauti mdogo wa joto ridi.

Hata hivyo inasemekana Mpemba effect haijathibitishwa kwa kuwa kuna factors zingine zinachangia. Mojawapo ni kuwa maji ya moto yana evaporate haraka, kwa hiyo mfano kama uliweka lita mbili za maji ya moto na lita mbili za maji ya baridi. Baada ya nusu saa maji ya moto yanaweza kuwa yamepungua na kufikia lita 1.5. Kwa hyo itachukua muda mfupi kufreeze kuliko lita 2 za maji ya ubaridi wa kawaida.
 
Binafsi hili suala naona limekaa zaidi kikemia kuliko kifizikia

Newton's Law of cooling states that the rate of loss of heat in proportional to the temperature difference. or −dQ/dt=k(T′−T)−dQ/dt=k(T′−T)

Q → heat transferred, t → time, k → constant, T' - T → temperature difference.


Newton's Law of cooling ni mathematical equation haielezei chochote, ila mie naona Mpemba effect, haihusishi phase changes (i.e. evaporation) na radiative heat loss.
