Students of Dar es Salaam-based IMTU gather at Education and Vocational Training ministry headquarters to demand that the government resolve a tug of war between them and the institution`s management over fee payment terms.

The government has said it would intervene on the saga involving students of International Medical and Technological University (IMTU) in
Dar es Salaam and ensure that the system of paying school fees in US dollars instead of local currency was discouraged.

This was said in the National Assembly here on Friday by the Minister of Constitutional Affairs and Justice Celina Kombani.

"The government discourages local schools, colleges and universities to charge fees on foreign currency, including US dollars and we are making a close follow up on events at IMTU to see how best we can solve the problem," she said.

She was responding to a supplementary question from Faki Haki Makame (Mtoni -CUF), who demanded to know why the government had agreed to enter into contracts which later forced poor citizens to pay for services in foreign currency instead of the local currency, citing the IMTU saga.

In his basic question, Faki Makame also demanded to know corporate social responsibility of various companies.

Responding, Kombani said the government normally engaged negotiating committees before entering into a contract with different private companies that offered public services.

She said the committee always went through details of the contracts in the interests of the country.

The CCM Government has failed our EDUCATION SYSTEM; We don't know how Many Graduated, How Many Employed, How May are TZ Citizens

Most of the kids who have goes overseas the have not stays and suffer with the damn GVT loan

The GAP between the have and the have not is growing - CCM government must be very careful look @ MBEYA now...

The current regime has massively FAILED in Education in Tanzania, in the health sector, in providing basic needs for the population. Its very sad that this failure has occurred in a country whose first President was an intelligent, proactive leader. If one reads his works, a lot of what has happened in Tanzania during the past 2 or so decades, he foresaw the decline of Tanzania if there was no action against corruption. The whole system in Tanzania is corruption. Corruption is the status quo and no one in authority does anything about it. When a govt. official is quoted in the local papers dismissing a million dollars found in his offshore account as 'vijisenti' and no one in one of the poorest countries does anything about it, instead some other govt. official in charge of good governance gives him a clean chit. Go Figure!!
"Corruption is the enemy of Justice"-Mwl. Nyerere.

Its almost like there is ALL SYSTEM FAILURE in Tanzania, today.
The current system of corruption as status QUO cannot sustain itself!!

Mbona mpaka leo kimya?
