Uganda Cranes playmaker Allan “Star Boy” Okello completed a high-profile move to Moroccan giants AS FAR Rabat, signing a three-year contract after a brief but impressive spell with Tanzanian powerhouse Young Africans SC (Yanga).
The Moroccan club officially unveiled the 25-year-old attacking midfielder on Thursday, August 20, 2026, welcoming him ahead of the new season.

Okello’s move to North Africa comes after a strong six-month spell at Yanga, where he quickly established himself as one of the club’s key attacking players.
A quick rise at Yanga
Okello joined Yanga in January 2026 amid considerable expectations. Rather than making big promises, the Ugandan acknowledged the competition within one of East Africa’s biggest clubs and vowed to work for his place.

In 20 appearances across all competitions, Okello registered five goals and seven assists. In the Tanzanian Premier League, he scored five goals and provided six assists in 16 matches, while adding an assist in four CAF Champions League appearances.
His performances earned praise from Tanzanian football followers, with his creativity, composure and ability to unlock defences making him an increasingly important part of Yanga’s attack.
One of his standout performances came in a 3-0 victory over Coastal Union, where he scored twice and provided an assist.
From Vipers to Tanzania
Before joining Yanga, Okello had spent three seasons at Vipers SC, where he helped the club win the 2024/25 Uganda Premier League title and the 2025 Uganda Cup.
He had earlier made his name at KCCA FC before moving to Algerian side Paradou AC in 2020.
His development has also been reflected at international level. Okello made his Uganda Cranes debut in 2019 and has remained one of the country's most technically gifted attacking midfielders.
Reunion with Pedro Gonçalves
At AS FAR, Okello will reunite with Portuguese coach Pedro Gonçalves, who previously worked with him at Yanga.
The familiarity could help ease his transition into the Moroccan Botola Pro, with Gonçalves already familiar with the midfielder’s strengths and preferred style of play.
For Okello, the move represents another opportunity to test himself in a more competitive environment and continue building his reputation beyond East Africa.
