Bugangaizi East County Representative Onesimus Twinamasiko has called on the government to expedite the execution of Christopher Okello Onyum, who was sentenced to death in April 2026 for the murder of four toddlers at a Ggaba Daycare Center.

Twinamasiko’s call comes amid growing public questions over why Okello has not yet faced the death sentence handed down by the High Court.
“People are asking, when is this killer facing his execution?” Twinamasiko said, adding that some members of the public want to witness his death.
“Four months down the road, Christopher Okello Onyum is still alive, and in case he appealed, why is the process taking long?” he questioned.

Deputy Attorney General and Kyaka South County Representative Jackson Karugaba Kafuuzi, however, says the death sentence cannot be carried out immediately because it must first be confirmed by the Supreme Court.

The delay has raised questions among members of the public, with some wondering whether there is a deliberate move to keep Okello alive despite the High Court sentence.

The High Court ruling had brought relief to the parents of the victims and residents of Ggaba following the murders that shocked the community. However, the continued wait for the sentence to be implemented, coupled with limited information on the status of the case, has renewed questions over when Okello will finally face the punishment handed down by court.

For now, the execution remains subject to the completion of the legal process and confirmation of the death sentence by the Supreme Court.
