A house girl working in Saudi Arabia reportedly committed suicide after calling home to claim her life was in danger.
Ms Khadija Omar Masudi, 21, a mother of a six-year-old boy who has been working in Saudi Arabia for the past seven months differed with her employer and efforts to get help from her agent failed.
Her aunt, Fatuma Masudi said Masudi called her three days ago and claimed her life was in danger but refused to give the reason.
"The girl moved to Saudi Arabia and worked in one house and later moved to another. Her problems started in this second house and she later moved to another house where she is said to have committed suicide," she said.
The agent refused to help Masudi return home following problems with her employer.
The family spokesman, Mr Mohamed Isa, asked the Kenya Government to investigate the circumstances under which Masudi claimed she was suffering resulting to the suicide.
Investigate agents
"The Government must tell us what is happening and get the suspects arrested now," he said.
Isa said the suffering of Kenyans in Saudi Arabia was critical and must be investigated and suspects charged.
Muslims for Human Rights Executive Director Khalid Hussein demanded the Government must stop agents who recruit girls to work in Saudi Arabia without proper procedures.
He said the embassy in Saudi Arabia was sleeping on the job and must wake up to the realities of the suffering of Kenyans.
"We must investigate the agents who recruit Kenyans and push the embassy there to help Kenyans," he said.
The family demanded justice over the death of the woman after the agent claimed the house girl could have suffered mental disorder.
"When he asked me if my girl had a mental disorder, I said no because Masudi was alright," the aunt said.
