King Faisal Hospital
To respond to the rapid growth in patient admissions, King Faisal Hospital is expanding with a new 350-bed inpatient addition that will increase patient treatment capacity by 135%. The current building will undergo a full renovation to meet current standards of care and offer new diagnostic, telemedicine, and treatment technologies. Utilizing sustainable building systems and evidence-based design features, the Hospital will advance the treatment of patients and set new standards of care for the region.
They are going to add a school
Rwanda Biomedical Center and University of Medicine and Health Sciences
The Rwanda University of Medicine and Health Sciences will bring the national school of medicine together with a nursing school and allied health sciences. Schools of pharmacy, dentistry, and clinical psychology will be added to this educational component of a new campus co-located with the country’s healthcare center, King Faisal Hospital. National health research institutes will also be housed here to enhance the synergy of an integrated clinical, academic, and research community.
The National Reference Quality Control Laboratory is the first phase of the campus. Supporting the Ministry of Health’s mission for disease prevention, the building houses biosafety Level 3 laboratories and instrumentation for analyzing biological samples within a carefully designed containment barrier.

Physician’s Plaza at King Faisal Hospital
Joining the campus of the Rwanda University of Medicine and Health Sciences, the Physician’s Plaza is a new facility that will conveniently centralize a number of outpatient services, allowing the main hospital to provide focused inpatient services. Oncology, outpatient surgery, dialysis, and a blood draw lab join a pharmacy and clinical registration center. Staff facilities and medical records complete the Plaza, simplifying the patient experience and integrating clinical care with academic and research functions.
