Gunman kills 26 at Elementary School in Connecticut

Five days after the tragic shooting at the Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut, President Obama said that he is committed to reducing the epidemic of gun violence that plagues this country every single day.

James S. Brady Press Briefing Room​
at the White House, the President announced that Vice President Joe Biden will lead a new initiative that has been tasked with identifying concrete proposals for real reform by January. The Vice President, who wrote the 1994 Crime Bill that helped law enforcement bring down the rate of violent crime and included the assault weapons ban, will work with members of the Cabinet and outside organizations on this effort, and President Obama urged the new Congress to hold votes on the proposals early next year:
The good news is there’s already a growing consensus for us to build from. A majority of Americans support banning the sale of military-style assault weapons. A majority of Americans support banning the sale of high-capacity ammunition clips. A majority of Americans support laws requiring background checks before all gun purchases, so that criminals can’t take advantage of legal loopholes to buy a gun from somebody who won’t take the responsibility of doing a background check at all.

The President made clear that this is a complex issue, and that solutions must be wide-ranging and include everything from access to mental health services to confronting a culture that at times glorifies violence. But he also made clear that the price of doing nothing is much too high for our country to bear:
Since Friday morning, a police officer was gunned down in Memphis, leaving four children without their mother. Two officers were killed outside a grocery store in Topeka. A woman was shot and killed inside a Las Vegas casino. Three people were shot inside an Alabama hospital. A four-year-old was caught in a drive-by in Missouri, and taken off life support just yesterday. Each one of these Americans was a victim of the everyday gun violence that takes the lives of more than 10,000 Americans every year -- violence that we cannot accept as routine.
So I will use all the powers of this office to help advance efforts aimed at preventing more tragedies like this. We won’t prevent them all -- but that can’t be an excuse not to try. It won’t be easy -- but that can't be an excuse not to try.

Some people are calling for stiffer gun laws, while others are lobbying for the removal of guns all together, yet do we really think every gun will just be relinquished, I think not! still our people are suffering the most from the use of guns...

While others are trying to get legislation passed to rid us of the horrid (Stand your ground Law) we still face the obstacles of our people being slaughtered in the streets presumably by authority figures as well as our own.
How do we feel safe in our own communities, defend ourselves if necessary, and abide by the laws that are persecuting us, are weapons really the problem, thoughts anyone?

Personally I think people are the problem. Weapon doesnt kill people,people kill people.
Tuseme wakiweza kudhibiti silaha za moto...na watu wakaanza kutumia silaha mbadala Kama visu na kadhalika, Ina maana watapiga marufuku visu hata kwa matumizi ya kawaida ya nyumbani?
Hili suala la silaha Marekani litawasumbua sana siku za mbeleni.

Kuna documentary huwa naipenda sana katika A&E channel inaitwa "First 48" ..it's about Homicides. Moja ya episodes ilikuwa Detroit walionyesha Vijana wa mtaa mmoja wakiwa wamehifadhi silaha (Glocks and AKs) kwenye moja ya Jumba bovu kitaa..hizo silaha ziko pale just incase unapata dharura mtaani au unavamiwa na other gang bangers you can just run to the house and grab a weapon of your choice...imagine that!

Kwa hiyo suala la silaha Marekani litawasumbua sana. Na tatizo sio silaha..tatizo na watumiaji wa hizo silaha.

WASHINGTON -- The night after Sandy Hook, a gunman pulled behind a car in Kansas City's east side and opened fire, striking 4-year-old Aydan Perea in the head. The boy had just gotten into his father's car.

“He was innocent and he was just lifeless,” said the first bystander to reach Aydan. “All my life I’ve never seen nothing so devastating. I’m unable to eat, I’m unable to sleep because I see this baby in my head."

It was not the pre-schooler's first brush with gun violence. A year earlier, a gunman fired a shotgun at the house where Aydan had been staying. No one was injured, but bullets shattered a front window and riddled a parked car. This week, days after the drive-by shooting, doctors declared the boy brain dead. Aydan's mother said her world has "stopped."

In the week following the Sandy Hook massacre, a body was found inside a vacant house, at a car wash, in a bodega. They were discovered on a bike trail, in a backyard, inside the front office of a motel, in an idling Chevy pickup. They were the 67th murder in their city and the 88th and the 124th.

The immediate reaction from Republican staffers on Capitol Hill suggests the National Rifle Association might have jumped the shark Friday.

After Wayne LaPierre, the executive vice president of the NRA, blamed mass school shootings on “gun-free school zones,” suggested there should be a national mental health registry, blamed the media’s coverage of violence, pointed fingers at video games and old films and introduced the “National School Shield Program,” wherein the NRA would train armed school personnel and volunteers, it was just too much for some Republicans.

“100 percent true,” one GOP staffer said when asked if the NRA had jumped the shark Friday.

“True,” replied another. “But only after they set themselves on fire first. That was BRUTAL.”

Gun ownership in America is guaranteed in the constitution. Same as freedom of speech. There shouldn't even be the need for the NRA when you think about. Why should there be an organization that lobby for something that is already guaranteed under the constitution? It means the political system is corrupt if you have to fight to keep the rights that are protected by the constitution.

Ndio maisha yao ni ngumu kubadilisha kama ilivo kwetu wachawi wengi.Kwetu watu wenye ulemavu wa ngozi albino wanapata shida wanaishi kwa hofu.Majambazi nao wakikupatia chance lazima wakuwahi kabla hujawahi wewe.
 
Pamoja na mabunduki na ma psycho yote hayo maisha yao (Wamerikani) ni bora sana hatuwezi hata kidogo kulinganisha na mauozo yetu, huku kwetu magonjwa, matibabu duni, madereva wenye leseni feki wanaendesha hadi mabasi, hapo hujaweka wizi, vibaka na kadhalika.

Kabla ya safari watu wanasali japo kidogo kuziombea roho zao just in case....
Mtoto akianza kuharisha au akishikwa na malaria watu roho juu...
