Vito Mannone completes Sunderland transfer as Arsenal continue clear out

On your bike: Vito Mannone has joined Sunderland (Picture: Getty)Arsenal have continued their summer clear out by selling Vito Mannone to Sunderland.
Mannone, 25, joins the Black Cats on a four-year-deal after failing to break through at Arsenal, where he made just a handful of first-team appearances during a seven year stay.
He will rival Keiren Westwood to be Sunderland’s new number one, after they sold Simon Mignolet to Liverpool for £9million last week.
Arsenal will pocket £2.8million for the deal, with £2million up front now, and the rest to follow in bonus payments.
He becomes just the latest victim of Arsene Wenger’s intensive summer clearout, that begun earlier this month with the release of 13 players.

GINKEL PICKERS!
Last updated: July 04 2013

JOSE MOURINHO has swooped for Dutch starlet Marco van Ginkel.

Chelsea confirmed this morning that a fee, believed to be around £8million, has been agreed with Vitesse Arnhem for the highly-rated midfielder.

The deal is subject to Van Ginkel passing a medical and agreeing personal terms, although this is not expected to be a problem.

Van Ginkel, 20, helped an impressive Holland Under-21s side reach the semi-finals of Euro 2013 in Israel.

He played three matches and delivered two assists at the tournament.

The Gunners are confident their new bid will be enough to secure the Real Madrid striker, with sources saying the fee could be agreed by the two clubs 'within the next 24 hours'.

Arsenal had been reluctant to pay more than €24.5m for the Argentinian, but manager Arsene Wenger sanctioned a fresh bid closer towards Real's €30m valuation of the player.

Brazil midfielder Paulinho will undergo a medical at Tottenham ahead of his proposed move from Corinthians for a fee of about £17m.

Paulinho will also meet Spurs manager Andre Villas-Boas and chairman Daniel Levy before finalising the terms of a four or five-year contract.

The 24-year-old arrived in London on Thursday and his medical is scheduled to begin on Friday morning.
Tottenham could be in a position to announce the signing later on Friday.

Gonzalo Higuain agrees £23million move to Arsenal | The Sun |Sport|Football

[h=3]ARSENAL last night smashed their transfer record when they agreed a £23million fee for Real Madrid striker Gonzalo Higuain.[/h] The Argentine will undergo a Gunners medical today and is expected to sign a three-year £100,000-a-week deal.
Higuain, 25, has been given permission by Madrid to fly to London following weeks of negotiations. And boss Arsene Wenger has made it clear he wants the powerful goalscorer on board when Arsenal head for their tour of the Far East next Thursday.
The deal, which has been confirmed by the player's father Jorge, comes as a huge relief for Wenger, who had promised Arsenal fans to spend serious money this summer after eight years without winning a trophy.
The Gunners' previous biggest signing was the £16.5million they paid to sign Santi Cazorla from Malaga last summer and propels the club back into the big time.
Now Wenger wants to build on Higuain's imminent arrival by pressing ahead with negotiations for Wayne Rooney and Julio Cesar.
Rooney is still weighing up his future at Manchester United but would demand in excess of £200,000 a week.
Brazilian keeper Cesar, who has a £90,000-a-week contract at QPR, will be allowed to leave Loftus Road as a free agent just to get him off the wage bill.
The ex-Inter Milan keeper, 33, wants to stay in London despite interest from Barcelona.
And Wenger believes that the capture of Higuain will convince other world-class stars to join.

Brazil midfielder Paulinho has joined Tottenham from Corinthians for a fee of just under £17m.
Paulinho, who starred in Brazil's Confederations Cup triumph, passed a medical before finalising his contract.

The 24-year-old arrived in London on Thursday and met Spurs manager Andre Villas-Boas and chairman Daniel Levy.
"I am very happy and excited to have joined Spurs. It's a huge pleasure for my career to be at a club as big as Tottenham," Paulinho said.
Real Madrid also showed an interest in Paulinho, who has also played for Lithuanian side FC Vilnius and Polish club LKS Lodz.
Sao Paulo-born Paulinho scored 34 goals in 167 games for Corinthians and played in his country's 3-0 win over Spain in the Confederations Cup final.
He also played for Corinthians in their Club World Cup final win over Chelsea in December.
He has made a total of 17 appearances for Brazil and scored five times, including goals in their 3-0 Confederations Cup win against Japan and the 2-1 semi-final victory over Uruguay.
Earlier this month, when announcing he would leave Corinthians, Paulinho said: "What I have to say to Corinthians is 'see you soon'.
"Pretty soon I'll be back, owing to everything you have done for me."
