Tundu Lissu's campaigning has been excellent - exposing the oppression of the current CCM leadership for all to see. Generally he has reduced attacks on previous leaders and directed his fire on to the current one. That is one of the brilliant tactics, to narrow the field of attack and isolate the enemy.
To attack Nyerere is to widen the field of attack and to bring the supporters of this current leadership back to his rescue bcause Nyerere is dearer in their hearts now than previously. It is true that the imperial presidency of Tz started with Nyerere, but the fact that Nyerere himself was uneasy with it in a public pronouncement shows a vast difference from the current one in the practice of presidentialism. That is the point to hammer home constantly.
If Lissu insists on including Nyerere, he should at least show this difference, and then he will continue to have the vast army of Nyerere's supporters in his fold or nearby. Remember that none of the previous presidents is running. Magufuli is! After the election, assuming Lissu wins, he can then go to town bashing any one in sight if they had a role in TZ' faulty political system.
