Wanajeshi wa Eritrea waliwaua zaidi ya wanajeshi 200 wa Ethiopia na kuwajeruhi wengine zaidi ya 300, wakati wa mapigano kwenye mpaka kati ya nchi hizo siku za Jumapili na Jumatatu, kwa mujibu wa wizara ya habari ya Eritrea.

Wizara hiyo ilisema kuwa Erireta ilizima shambulizi hilo, lililotokea eneo la Tsorona hali iliyowalizmu wanajeshi wa Ethiopia kurudi nyuma.
Hata hivyo Eritrea haikutoa taarifa kuhusu idadi ya wanajeshi wake waliouawa.

Siku ya Jumatatu, Ethiopia ilisema kuwa ilikuwa imesababisha uharibifu mkubwa kwa vikosi vya Eritrea, ambavyo inasema vilikuwa vya kwanza kushambulia.

Eritrea forces killed more than 200 Ethiopian troops and wounded 300 others in fighting along their border on Sunday and Monday, Eritrea's Ministry of Information has said.

Eritrea "quashed" the attack launched on it in the Tsorona area, and forced Ethiopian forces to retreat, it added in a statement.

Eritrea did not give casualty figures for its side.

On Monday, Ethiopia said it had inflicted "significant damage" on Eritrean forces who it said were the first to attack.

Why Ethiopia should like to go into a war against Eritrea again when old wounds inflicted by the previous one between the two nations are not yet properly healed. Or it is because of the recent war exhibition by Eritrea which showed how they triumphed over the Mighty Ethiopian army in their last dual? True besides Eritrian regarded as underdog by many people who were observers and whom were looked as pushovers , they fought bravely and defeated the large and superior Ethiopians' army to the disbelieve of the majority. War sometimes is a matter of art and not only possession of grand army and weapons.
Likely Ethiopians were enraged by the boastful tiny Eritria during the exhibitions were displayed their inferiority arsenals which caused a huge upset to Ethiopian mighty army with sophisticated armour.
