Elon Musk is the founder of SpaceX and Tesla Motors, among other companies. His success has enabled him to become the richest person in the world, with a net worth of more than $335 billion. The South African-born entrepreneur began his first businesses in the 1990s.
In 2022, he expanded his investment portfolio by purchasing the social media platform Twitter, which he later renamed
X. Additionally, during President Donald Trump's administration in the United States, Musk was appointed as the head of the Department of Government Efficiency—a position he still holds.
Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba is the Chief of Uganda’s Defense Forces, who, on January 17, 2025, published a
message via his X account stating that opposition leader Kiiza Besigye would be hanged on May 9. In another post on January 5, 2025, he
threatened to eliminate Bobi Wine.
“Kabobi knows that THE ONLY person protecting him from me is my father. If Mzee was not there, I would cut off his head today.”
Claim
There has been a viral online
claim suggesting that Elon Musk suspended Muhoozi Kainerugaba’s account on X and told him to go to TikTok or to Rwakitura at his father’s farm after threatening to behead Bobi and ‘hang’ Besigye on May 9.
Verdict: False
A digital investigation conducted by JamiiCheck has revealed that this claim is false. Elon Musk never made such a statement nor suspended Kainerugaba’s
X account.
Moreover, on January 10, 2025, Muhoozi Kainerugaba
published a message explaining his departure from the platform, saying it was under the instructions of the Lord Jesus Christ and that he wanted to dedicate more effort to the Uganda People's Defence Force (UPDF), after which he deactivated his account.
“To all my dear followers, it has been a great and rousing journey together for the last ten years, since 2014. However, the time has come, under the instructions and blessings of my Lord Jesus Christ, to leave and concentrate on His army, the UPDF. I know you all love me and that you will continue to follow me."
"At an appropriate time in the future, after fulfilling God's assignment to restore everlasting peace and security to His people in our region, we shall reconvene. I love you all so much, and in whatever you do, continue to support Uganda, Africa, and our President, Yoweri Kaguta Museveni. Farewell, and God bless you all.”
“Taking a break from X? We get it. Sometimes it’s good to take a step back from everything that’s going on. Or if you’re looking for a permanent break, we can help you too. Follow our step-by-step instructions on how to deactivate or delete your X account.” -

However, he later reactivated his account, and on January 17, he
posted a message rejecting the summons from the parliamentary defense committee to be questioned about his posts on X, which the committee
claimed had tarnished Uganda’s image.
Muhoozi stated,
“I WILL NEVER appear before parliamentary CLOWNS! Instead I will ARREST them all.”
Therefore, the claims that Elon Musk suspended General Muhoozi Kainerugaba’s X account are false and have no connection to Elon.
