First off, you just don't get your science news from "The Sun". Nikiisoma hiyo article naona makosa na distortions kibao. Infrared light is largely heat, sasa ukisoma unaweza kufikiri kwamba nyota nyingine hutoa mwanga tu na nyingine kama hii mythical Nemesis hutoa joto bila mwanga.Ukweli ni kwamba nyota zote zinazotoa visible light zinatoa infrared pia. Hawa jamaa kazi yao ni ku sensationalize kitu chochote ili kuuza magazeti.


Nemesis is an unobserved, the theory is untested and has not been reviewed . Walianza kwa kusema ni nyota pacha ya jua letu (binary) observation technology ilivyoboreka wakasema ni "brown dwarf". Ushahidi mkubwa kwamba hii nemesis ni myth ni ukweli kwamba haijaonekana mpaka leo, kwa telescopes, radioscopes na heat sensors zilizopo leo tungeshaweza kui detect brown dwarf iliyo half a light year away kwa kutumia 2MASS or a similar probe.

The story leaves a lot to be desired. We have some more ralistic threats of this nature, but this to me remain a myth.

The Asteroid Apophis was thought to have a non zero chance of hitting the earth in 2029, but this is now reduced to zero, there is still of concern about a slightly more chance of Pophis hitting the earth in it's next sojourn in 2036

The asteroid 2006 HZ51 was supposed to hit us in June 2008, obviously it didn't.

There is a probability of 1 in 800,000 for an extinction level event (i km or more) asteroid to hit the earth in any given year.This means this only happens on average once every 800,000 years. A 200 metres object strikes once every 100,000 years and a 40 metres object strikes once every 1,000 years

The U.S Congres directed NASA to identify by 2008, 90% of all asteroids and comets more than one km (low probability and high consequence) in diameter with orbits approaching earth.By 2004, the US was the only nation in the world doing anything about the possibility of asteroid impacts, I am not sure if this has changed since then.

On June 30th 1908 in Tunguska Siberia, an asteroid about 55 metres fell on earth and detonated above the surface there, with a force of 800 Hiroshimas, similar to a magnitude 8 earthquake, eight hundred square miles of Russian woodland were incinerated in seconds

I am looking for a table with the names, periodicity and impact probability of all known asteroids posing a threat.
