We use "If I were you/her/him ..." to imply someone's position especially when one speaking can't take that position in real sense.
e.g. "If I were the IGP I would jail all of them wakaimbie mapambio humo lock up" in jp voice.

Why not ..... you may also say ... a beautiful ( attractive ) house, garden etc
