Hello everyone.
I have few questions about android phones and it's usage here in Tanzania.

1. Roughly, how many people use
2. If you do own one, what app stores do you have access to.

Why am I asking these questions?

I want to develop few apps targeting local population in East Africa. So if you have any additional information, I will appreciate.

Thanks

develop app, waandikie google, wataitest, ikiwa poa inawekwa kwenye google android market, yeyote duniani anaweza kuinunua na kuidownload, why umelenga soko la ki-tz wakati soko lipo wazi dunia nzima.

My aim is to develop apps that target local population that speak Swahili which is about 100 million people. That's my strategy.

Kwa East Africa, unaweza ukasema 1% ya population wanaweza kuwa na android smart phone, sawa na wakazi 1,000,000.

you will still have to put it in android market,

I know that. There's no point of making something if no one is going to use it. It's better to do your research before wasting your valuable resources.

Thank you anyway.

this is my simple research.

Vodacom-around 5 million sim card sales
tigo&airtel aroud 6 million together
zantel about 1 million.

Like 12 million simcard. Lets say east africa is about 35 million smart card.

Research says only 10% of africans use Smartphone.

Then we get 3.5 million smartphone user of symbian, ios and android.

Lets say 700,000 use androids, then 500,000 of android user know swahili. This is enough market if you develop killer apps.

So it depend on your idea. And if it will be paid application or ad support dont even think of developing it.

means za kununua ndo tatizo kama ana uhakika ataeka system itayotumia mfumo wa mpesa au tigo pesa watu wanaweza nunua but kama ni credit card kama visa au master card ni mmoja katika 10,000 watanunua

Hey Chief.
Thanks much for your help. This will get me started on the right foot. Also I am looking down the road few years from now. I believe the usage will pick up in a year or two. The challenge will be to incorporate payment system.

Again thanks for the info.
