We built systems that say "I'm confused" and "I'm here for you." Does anyone actually feel it?
I hosted Dr. Elena Voss (Cognitive Neuroscience, UvA) and Dr. Arjun Patel (Computer Science, TU Delft) to bridge two worlds:
- Hard Problem, Global Workspace Theory vs Integrated Information Theory (Φ)
- Why embodiment & interoception matter (Damasio)
- The double standard: we train models to deny consciousness, then ask if they have it
Our agreement: retire the binary question. Measure sentience, selfhood, and sapience as separate axes.
