it depends with your location. by the way is interesting with RDV? just curious. say your location and will help.
u dont need to worry about the connection status showing not connect. U can now watch/ listern to watever available at ur desporsal. Am using my box with huawei E303 usb modem.
Just managed to connect my HUAWEI E160 and work's fine with my CS account.
msondaa, keep us updated on your progress in nabbing this sat. I am hoping to give it a short also over the weekend, though I am out of footprint but with luck it might be recievable as fringe.my mid morning forays in ASAS forums has lead to the knowledge that chinasat12 is nailable in my location. i have come to this conclusion after looking at the MENA beam although in my location (mombasa) the dish has to be upside down. with irib channels on ku it means more football channels for free.
cant wait to get home and nail it.View attachment 109440View attachment 109441

Hi Msondaa in Mombasa there is no need for the dish to be upside down. This applies if the elevation is negative ie you can not go that far.In East Africa an example of the satellite with negative elevation is at 50W.
Happy hunting.
Just some clarification:
Negative elevation means the satellite is below the horizon as seen from your location, which means your dish cant see it. Therefore nothing you do with the dish will bring the sat into sight unless you raise the height of your pole. The further below the horizon the sat is the higher the pole must be until for sats that are on the other side of the world i.e minus 90 degrees elevation you cant see them no matter how tall your pole.
Now coming to the upside down offset dish solution, It only applies to none motorised offset dishes where the dish has a physical "look down" limit. The offset dish normally looks 45 degrees above where it is physicaly looking and for near horizon satellites it cant tilt down low enough for its 45 degree angle of vision to align on the sat. In this case turning the dish upside down will enable it solve this by swapping the position of the dish and the LNB.
For offset dishes on an HH motorised dish this solution wont help because the LNB on an upside down offset dish will end up on the same side of the dish as the sat, which means the dish will be focusing the signal at a location on the other side away from the LNB. I expect zero signal.
Upside down offset dish.. is where the LNB arm is positioned above the dish and not below it ?
Good news for the IRIB package fans its easily to nab on China sat12 87.5E on a 90cm offset with a signal quality of 72%
