I tried to add frequency manually and it gave me good signal but scanning the transponder gave me no channel. Any clue?

Samsung TVs: Should you buy one?

As the biggest and most popular TV brand in the UK, Samsung offers a wide range of LED-backlit LCD TVs in screen sizes ranging from 19-inch up to mammoth 105-inch sets. Although it has launched a few plasma TVs in 2014, Samsung will cease plasma production imminently.

Alongside HD TVs, Samsung also makes 4K, or ultra-HD TVs. The company is at the cutting-edge of smart TV and has one of most extensive and easy to use platforms available. For more, please see Samsung smart TV: Everything You Need to Know.

Samsung - the Which? Best AV Brand 2014 winner - has a good track record in our lab, with quite a few of its TVs earning Best Buy awards, including some costing under £500. Samsung TVs often have good picture picture and a strong range of features, but it can sometimes drop the ball, too.

LG TVs: Should you buy one?

LG is now only just behind Samsung in the battle to dominate the TV market. It had an impressive 2013 in our TV test lab, after responding to our feedback and criticism from previous years. This helped LG pip its South Korean rival, Samsung, to the Which? Best Audio-Visual Brand 2013 award (although, Samsung won back the award in 2014).

LG offers a huge range of HD TVs, including LED-backlit LCD televisions and plasma sets. Just like the other big brands, it is actively producing TVs with 4K ultra HD resolution, with four times the detail of a HD TV. LG is also forging ahead with a new type of TV screen technology called OLED. For more on that, please our What is OLED? guide.

On the whole, LG fares reasonably well in our expert and independent lab testing, achieving a fair few Best Buy awards for its TVs, including some available for under £600. However, it's not all plain sailing - for example, we often criticise LG TVs for being tricky to use.

Hitachi: Hitachi outsourced its TV manufacturing in 2011 after 56 years due to tough market conditions. It sells Hitachi-branded TVs mostly at Argos. Even though they're usually cheap, they're not always worth buying.

Telecommunication solutions provider Safaricom has launched a decoder that will enable access to TV content and the internet.
CEO Bob Collymore said 'The BigBox' will serve as a Wi-Fi hotspot connecting up to 10 users and support data-heavy applications.
"It will give you access to HD TV Channels and allow you to watch content through online video services like YouTube," Collymore said during the launch at Sarit Centre on Friday.
The decoder's first payment option will see subscribers pay an initial cost of Sh4,999 following by six Sh999 monthly installments.
"This package includes access to free-to-air TV stations and an allocation of up to 6GB a month in data bundles in addition to free YouTube viewing," Collymore said.
The second option of a one-off fee of Sh9,999 allows access to free-to-air channels and up to 6GB in data bundles for a month and free YouTube access.
Subscribers who choose this option can also buy bundles of up to 50GB for Sh4,000.
Safaricom said customers will be able to top up their balances by buying monthly bundles using airtime or M-Pesa, on predefined USSD and WAP interfaces.
Collymore said the decoder will allow subscribers to leverage extensively on the 3G and 4G networks to access content.
"Technology has influenced our day-to-day interactions as well as how we consume content. This will make it easier for consumers to embrace the concept of edutainment and using internet to meet their needs," he said.
The decoder which will be available in all major cities countrywide makes Safaricom the firsat telcom to venture into the TV business.
The company intends to reach the estimated 2.4 million households out of 3.2 million that have access to digital TV but are not using any of the set boxes available on the market.
"We have applied to the CA for a broadcasting license that will enable us to develop and host more content," Safaricom said.
Speaking during the release of the company's financial results on Thursday, he said the decoder "distributes the superfast connectivity via Wi-Fi to any existing Wi-Fi enabled devices".
He further announced the distribution of the 4G network, currently available in Nairobi and Mombasa only, to 13 towns and cities around the country by the end of the 2015 calendar year.

Thanks for compliment. I improvised the holder using aluminium cable.

pls i need some one to help me with Telemedia frequency on eutelsat 7e and biss key

Qimeu, as I said, I simply do not have the time to do all that and enjoy today's match. I have all the equipment needed, except one called time. I will get home probably just before the match starts, so it's a catch-22 situation.

Gich what do you mean you don't have time? I suggest you fine-tune your SETUP at night with the help of a floodlight of course.

Check out these RUSTIC SAT-COMBOS they might inspire you. I've had them for a while.

Please note the signal strengths of the following setups are at their MAXIMUM BEST no rain fade at all.

For 8FT, the prime lnb is 7e . Next 10e, 17e and 20e.
Gurus like Qimeu should tell me if its possible to add 7w to this setup.

For 6FT, the prime lnb is 62e. On top is 68.5e and 70e respectively. Below 62e is 57e. I added 70e to bring home the Kenyamux radio channels.

IRIB VARNISH(20e) and IDMAN AZER(7e) is indeed possible on a 240cms but takes real hardwork plus ingenuity. REMEMBER I've tried most sat-combos with unrivaled success. I mean it-unrivaled success! Go for it and report back here on the forum.

Please bear with pics quality as they were taken with an extinct "mulika-mwizi" fon.

Highland; hehe, I like this type of ASAS. #Floodlight . I will definitely try this. I have a 180cm, so that's what I will work with. Where is the 7e on your 6ft set-up?

Today on my way home, I came across a very interesting set-up (sorry I could not take a photo). An occupant of this house (I assumed the domestic technician) was hanging clothes on the line. The line is next to the household Satellite TV set-up. In her wisdom, after hanging the clothes, she also hung the container containing the pegs to dry. Where did she hang the container? On the LNB holder, hence covering the whole LNB!

Yetz my brotha the #floodlight will come in handy. You may "borrow" one from the kanjo and return it b4 dawn.

As for the 6footer, the dish faces eastwards (in layman's language). According to my previous trials its also possible to add 28.2e(astra 2f) and 36e(E 36B) to this setup

However the signal results for 2f and 36B on 180cms are not so impressive. Kazi kwako!

hi to all, i ve nabbed Hotbird (13) i can get discovery channel & others on tp 11278/V/27500/3/4 Irdeto.

Hi PATRON. I have my 7w on a seperate 130cm offset dish. Never the less, its possible to have 7w on 240cm pf with 7e as prime. I have done this test before on my set up(available in previous pages) and it worked. If i hadn't the extra dish, i would have already added it. However, some weak tps will be compromised. You can use the tp carrying fox movies to track. Be blessed.

Mate I'm afraid that's not Hotbird 13˚E. There is no Irderto encryption on Freq 11278 & 11411 Hotbird tps & neither is there Discovery or Natgeo channels on those Hotbird tps. But analogous TPs on Nilesat @ 7˚W have the channels you're talking about and use Irdeto encryption. As for unscrambling them (@ 7˚W) - only through official subscription at the moment.
