I have 8ft mesh dish how do I make it receive ku sat will aluminium foil help?
Foil it or not that dish should nab most ku-band tps. Just get the right ku-band lnb for pf dish or better still use your ingenuity and try a MULTI LNB SETUP.
Precisly, thats a "sat-combo". E.g
1.Get a c-band lnb and train it to intel 62e (for Citizen, Ntv, Qtv).
2.Remove the C-band.
3.Next, make an incision to the neck on the lnb ring above the c-band thats big enough to fit another c-band.
4.Make another incision below the 62e to fit a c-band
5.Fit your c-band and in the middle and lacate 62e and MAXIMIZE your signal strength.
6.Have a pen handy and make proper markings that will guide you if you have to lower the dish.
7.Get two metal holders, two horse clips and screws. (If you bought a pf pan dish like eurostar 6ft or 8ft ,then the COPPER SURFACE MOUNTING CLIP HOLDERS that come with it are the best metal holders). I really like them because you can play around with them just like the KPLC aluminium wires elsewhere. Besides, the come already drilled for you. Remember tat you can straigthen and even cut them in twos.
8.Get a KU-BAND and locate 20e above your 62e. Use the metal holders ( preferably the eurostar 6ft or 8ft surface mounting copper clips), horse-clips an screws to lock and tighten your ku-band.
9.Get another ku-band and place it below your 62e. This ku-band can nab Nss12( for K-24) or Yahsat. The choice is yours. Follow above procedure to secre it in place. Use your aptitude to calculate the perfect position.
HOW TO MODIFY AN ACCURATE KU-BAND HOLDER FOR A PRIME FOCUS DISH:
pf ku-band lnbfs are expensive. Here's your cheaper short-cut:
(a). Get a dead c-band lnbf and insert a fitting ku-band lnbf
(b). Get an hacksaw blade and cut a small hole to insert the coaxical cable.
Please use your IQ here like measuring from the outside b4 cutting etc.
(c). Tighten the diseqc pin on the ku-band lnb and carefully insert it into your modified c-band holder.
(d). Insert the caoxical cable through the hole to the diseqc pin.
Use sticks or someting to solve any play of the ku-band (male) inside the c-band (female).
(e). Search your ku-band tps as you would with a c-band.
There you go. I can post pictures later.
