African Satellite World and Sat Gear

Seems like a bug or some ‘alien’ from outer space has done ‘over-the-air-upgrade’ on my SRT4922! Despite upgrading software from ‘157P’ to ‘159P’ last night, the bug continues to ‘chew’ my D*i*g*i*t*u*r*k TPs with zeal. Apart from 10928 H 30000, more TPs have joined the $$$$ club; surprisingly their signal quality is good, hitting over 63% (threshold is 60% for SRT4922). Will try out more tricks this evening including deleting all 7E TPs and ‘re-blind-scanning’, factory reset, and other clever gimmicks. Note: TPs on the 7East African beam are okay. Only the Europe-beam is being 'crafty'.

I am using a Eurostar 8x1 DiSEqC (Digital Satellite Equipment Control) switch and 7 of the 8 birds connected to it are behaving well: 130Cm Offset with 4 LNBs (7WestA, 5East, 7East (main LNB), 17East); 90Cm Offset with 1 LNB (8WestA); 90Cm Offset with 2 LNB (Yahsat-1A (main LNB) and NSS12); 65Cm Offset with 1 LNB (Intelsat20). All the Dishes are Eurostar Brand too.

Looks like you should be investigated. For hogging/jamming satellites the east African region over! :cool2:

Freddygaz,
I already have a set-up consisting of 90 & 130. My Installer told me that for I to lock onto IRIB, I need a separate dish, preferably a 180, though he mentioned that the 130 could do. My location is Naivasha Road, lower Kabete, just past ILRI on your way to Kawangware. Kindly give me your number we talk.

Good afternoon a 180cm prime focus will be great if the 130cm is locked to another sattelite plus you will have more signal as opposed to the 130.....

What is the tp for KBC on Intelsat 20 ? Is any channel accessible on intelsat 22 C Band using normal receivers?

I dont have a setup on KBC as yet....I belive Intelsat 20 you will get the Citizen feed and on NSS12 you will get K24

The channels on Intelsat 22 can be accesed using a reciver that supports multistream.....with a strong 4922/4950 you are good to go...

Guest channel on SES 5 has gone $$, Whats up small sister (if D*t* is BB)

Welcome felix. I belive that is Yahsat at 52.5 deg East

showing on fox movies.
what a revelation! There is another exorcist. :hail:crazy things happen in them churches too.

Someone asked about an external disk. if it is for recording on the pvr's, better get one powered by its own adaptor. not the transcend usb powered ones. one with its own power supply works fast, so is ideal for recording

thought it was only my astrovox misbehaving badly! :becky:

Might this be the hated Astrovox VSR 9000, I thought I was the only one that owns this decoder😉. But sooner or later it will have to be replaced

Questions for the gurus,I have just goten a 6 ft prime focus dish which i want to use to bring down Europe Beam B on Eutelsat 7A.My 130 cm offset has 'refused' to bring the B beam. Questions as below
1. In getting the elevation where do you check on the angles /degrees. I can see one of the supports has a knob for lowering /raising the dish (Elevation) But it has no angles marking?
2.The LNB holder was for a C-Band LNB now i need holders that can hold a Ku band LNB
3.Which Ku band LNB should i use ( I presume this will be the LNBF for prime focus) like the stargold one
4.Any other information i need to know
Thanks in advance

Hi Dongra,
For the lnb holder you need this
images

The holder goes for around Ksh. 350 at Riwara in Kenya (if you are in Kenya).
For the Lnbf get a low noise figure one like stargold fuji single or double. The single one goes for around kenya money 1600 at digital life electronics.

images

Now I presume you know how to set up your dish.
Fix the lnbf with proper holder and skew it around 3 o'clock (The port(s) face 3 o'clock).
There is nothing special in setting this dish, infact is simpler to set than the offset counterpart.
Let the dish face exactly west and elevate it slowly from the ground till you hit green. Use a stronger tp like the tv zimbo one then change tp to bbc persia (10721H ).
On hitting green slightly skew the lnb clockwise or otherwise to maximize signal. you may need to adjust the lnb slightly inwards or outwards to improve signal quality. Switch to al jazeera tp (10887 H) and again repeat to maximize signal quality to > 65 %.
Note: An stb with a beeper or a simple sat finder can really help simplify you work apart from aiding you precisely lock to a bird (7A at 7E).
Good luck!

So tricky to fix this holder...... I'll advice to go for the ku lnbf holder then please experiment with your rings.... and share your breakthroughs with the family. Members like Fta Nash and techde keep on surprising us with their ingenuity!
