This is very true, AZAM ni kiboko yao, i also got to learn a few tricks with the decoder on how to add all the other fta channels on 7e. You just add another sat and give it any name you want then add the tps manually and scan. thanks to sat2 i got to watch Gor going down to bandari via globecast feed.
meanwhile in other news the big three media houses secretly launched a sat last night which will broadcast the Kenyan mux fta to all homesteads in the region. The sat is located at 65e and the spot beam is so strong that even a 30 cm dish will do. pics coming up later.
Msondaa, looking at my various "Satellite Search Engines", …. Flysat, Lyngsat, KingofSat, etc., I cannot locate any satellite located at 65 East. Also, no recent news of any upcoming satellite launch on that orbital position. The "Big Three" Media houses failed to raise even the KSh.1 billion or so needed for a DVB-T2 broadcast license. How can they possibly afford to "launch" a satellite costing billions more? Today being first day of April, could this be an "April fools Day" joke? ……..

From the CNBC interview The PANG boss says the satellite service was going to be FTA. just like the terrestrial digital broadcasts.
With their 17 transmitters located across the country coverage is still not 100% . So as a goodwill gesture they were just going to make available the channels on satellite for free as some sort of supplementary service
But as you are now aware ,KTN,NTV Citizen and others don't want their channels carried on competitors platforms without proper consent. and indeed according to the courts of appeal ruling this amounted abuse of intellectual property.
Anyway the stakes are really high in this digital migration matter. Some people have seriously "eaten", briefcase companies got contracts.Companies blocked coz they didnt part with "kitu kikubwa" .. it just gets dirtier
Meanwhile Radio Africa Limited , Owners of Kiss TV,Kiss FM,East FM,Radio Jambo etc has been acquired by South Africas Times Media Group.
That basically means that the new entrant in this business automatically also acquires the Digital Broadcast license Kiss TV had. This is a license RAL got by acquiring defunct pioneer company called Oxygen Digital TV ODTV.
