African Satellite World and Sat Gear

hi,where do you buy azam card in nairobi? i am on7e with a 4922 and all the softwares.

Yesterday i went to bed wondering on how i could maximize the quality on my 7E setup. This morning i am glad that by tilting my lnb i achieved 69% on BBC Persia. For the Di*gturk hunters ensure if you are using a 1.8PF the lnb is well aligned and you get the Nat geo and history TP.
On my couch enjoying a lovely afternoon with some Smooth Jazz (Kungu's Favourite) correct me Kungu if am wrong.

Building on my previous setup done on 18[SUP]th[/SUP] November 2013 (see post No.2988 on Page 150; https://www.jamiiforums.com/tech-ga...african-satellite-world-and-sat-gear-150.html ), over the weekend I completed fabricating a firm “robotic” LNB arm to combine:

(i) SES 5East; Eutelsat 7West A; and Eutelsat 7 East (plus Europe Beam) on 130Cm;
(ii) Intelsat 20 Ku (68.5 East); NSS12 (57.0East); and Yahsat-1A (52.5 East) on 90Cm.

The extra arm, made of 1-inch square tube is detachable. Due to added weight on the LNB arm for the 130Cm dish, I added an adjustable steel support between bottom of dish and dish mast. A bolt and two nuts at one end of this support is used to “fine-tune” the 7 East Europe beam LNB.

I found that the Quad Eurostar QP4 Gold (0.3dB) LNB has 3-5% higher gain than the Inverto Ultra Black single when fitted to receive the 7 East Europe Beam. Once this LNB is tuned to maximum quality, an extra Stargold LNB is added on top to receive best gain on the SES5 East (71% quality). Finally, a “robotic” arm is fitted on top and adjusted to receive Eutelsat 7 West A. All the TPs on this Satellite (7West A) are stable with quality of 62 - 67% with close to 600 channels. None of the TPs on Nile201 will pop up.

With this stable LNB support that enables “advanced” fine tuning, even the weak TP 11554H30000 (CBS Reality, Discovery Channel, Nickeldeon, Duck TV, Discovery Science, etc.) is stable at a quality of 62%. Others are 11471H30000 (Disney Jnr) at 60%; 10845V30000 (BBC Entertainment etc.) at 63%; 10804V29900 (BBC Knowledge) at 66%; 10928H30000 (CNN etc.) at 60%; 11513H29900 (E-Europe, MTV, etc.) at 60%; 11637H30000 (MGM Channel, etc.) at 59%; 11596H30000 (Eurosport News etc.) at 59-60%. Only the following TPs are ‘scratching’ at quality of 54%: 11534V30000 (Animal Planet); 11617V30000; and 11678H30000. These tests have been done in slightly cloudy weather at 10Pm.

For the 90Cm setup, the TPs on Intelsat 68.5 East are stable at 57-60% quality; Yahsat-1A stable at 63% quality; and TPs on NSS12 stable at 62-63% quality. Using Inverto Ultra black LNBs can add 5% extra quality on each of the three satellites on the 90Cm setup.

There is also an extra 65Cm offset dish that is “downloading” channels on Amos 5 at 80% quality. I will try to transfer its LNB to the arm of the 130Cm, so as to have the 7 LNBs set up on only 2 dishes. All the 7 LNBs have been connected to a Eurostar 8-by-1 DiSEqC switch which is feeding the SRT4922 with goodies.

Well, with this ASAS attack, that’s how I cerebrated my country’s 50 years of independence over the weekend. As an observation, satisfying FTA madness is not cheap given the investment one has to make to purchase decoders, dishes, high gain LNBs and extra fabrication of LNB arms / LNBs.

This ASAS disease is “chronic”!

Thanks for this info Cheif Soita, I have a similar lnb called starlife and its exactly the same as the stargold single. unfortunately it performs worse than the inverto single. So after trying it for a few hours and not getting 69% on the BBC persian tp, I gave up on it and put back the inverto black ultra.

But I'm not sure what you mean by tilting. do you mean aligning the lnb holder to point directly at the centre of the dish?

mind u share where you find the lnb holders?
For the two extra plastic holders for the 7West and 68.5East LNBs, I obtained from two old 65Cm Eurostar dishes, which are now lying idle. For the steel arms and parts, I designed them, drew and supervised a good local welder to make to the precise measurement. It cost KSh.2500 (USD30) to fabricate. Other costs: QP4 gold LNB at KSh.2500 (someone had old stock. Not available easily these days); 8x1 DiSEqC at KSh.1000.

If one has space, it is better to use a 130Cm (Sh.5000) for the Intelsat20-NSS12-Yahsat1A combination, since this will work well with the cheap single LNBs around like the stargold (KSh.400). However, if space is an issue, high gain LNBs can come to the rescue. Hence I need to replace the three LNBs on the 90Cm with three "Invertos" at KSh.1500 each to increase gain .......
The addiction and 'spending' continues......!

The Inverto Ultra Black single works well with yahsat-1A. on 7th Dec., I installed the LNB on 90Cm Eurostar Dish for a friend (at Nairobi) and it hit 68% quality on the HD channels (Dubai One etc.). In my setup for Yahsat (in the 3-in-1 setup above), the Stargold achieves only 63%, which is still very stable in cloudy weather.

Great set-up 😛oa

Thanks a lot Chief Soita, Vince 9 and all the victims of this incurable disease if not a terminal condition. Apologies for failing to give my location. Iam in Machakos Kenya. To be sincere, this European beam is giving me long nights (and days). any one with an experience with 1.5m offset dish pertaining 7e? I think this dish can do what 1.2m offset and 1.8m pf can't do. Is my thinking right? someone please?

Hi QIMEU, With a 1.5m Offset, you shouldn't be struggling according to what i have read on this forum. this past weekend, i managed to get 63% on BBC Persia transponder and 58% quality on the E-entertainment TP. but i know my problem is the LNB. i have failed to get a good LNB for offset dish here in Kampala but still trying, like you said, let someone with same size of dish in Kenya say something.

He Members from Kampala, pliz advise me where i can buy any of the following LNBs to use on my 130cm offset disk to receive Europe B footprint from 7 degress East. so-far, i am using FUJI HD lnb but the best i can get is 63% quality on MBC Persia.
1. Inverto Black Ultra
2. Stargold Fuji
3. Samson
4. any good lnb for fring reception available in Kampala for offset dish.
currently am also considering buying WIZTECH PF lnb but would it work well on my Offset dish. someone who has done this before, pliz comment.

Great set-up 😛oa

wonderful setup!!!, Since i have already combined nilesat and eutelsat 7a on one 130cm offset,(thanks to your previous post) i am goint to replicate everything in this post since i have an extrar 90cm offset with me. you are my inspiration right now. my only set-back is that i have problems getting good lnbs here in Kampala.

It seems every successful product attracts fake copies. The copycats are at it again. I understand SRT 4922A fakes have surfaced in various markets, so beware. Check out the attached warning from Strong Technologies.

thanks for enlighting us

Greetings friends. The night was long and held me hostage. Thanks to God that the morning came to my rescue. I found myself on my 1.8 pf dish armed with an inverto black ultra single. After tweaking and twisting again and again, i was able to get BBC persia at 65% up from 58%. Back to the tv, i scanned and nat geo which iam crazy for squeezed its way in with s. quality of 56%, but not showing. Can this samson lnb be the cure. CHIEF SOITA, please inform the house about the performance of samson specifically on the said channel(s) after you perform the tests. Iam waiting with a lot of optimism. Thank you for your encouragement which actually sent me back to the dish. All the best.

Now an observation that we must note is the fact that the lnbs we are using eg stargold single lnb on PFs are meant mostly for offset dishes. What i meant by tilting the lnb is to ensure that the lnb points the dish at an angle similar to the way it could have been positioned on an offset.

The way the refracted image of a pen in a glass of water may look like from the side.

Hi members,144p software is erasing the digiturk channels from my end.

I agree. Tried it out last night and it behaves that way.
However, it also has some interesting IPTV sports channels for football-loving people.
I think the best version for 7E (Europe beam) is 139P.

Also, I noted something interesting: previously, the 139P could not allow deleting of IPTV channels. But after installing 144P then back to 139P, now the icon for deleting unwanted IPTV channels on the 139P is working!

last evening I decided to repoint my1800mm to the west in order to catch more bidrs .I my current location is in turkana. I manage to get nilesat, eutelsat7e, amos5 17e and eutelsat 36e . for nilesat am using a discovery lnb 0.3 db,eutelsat 7e am using a brand new stargold fuji ,amos 5 strong lnb srt L739.my neighbour accept to assist me with her 650mm to use it for nss12 and the dstv to on my 1800mm.
the europe beam was very stable. big up my seniors like FTANASH,KUNGU,MUTUKO plus the rest members for that encourageness , if u haven't had ur name catch me in the next coming post

Gaza man, Great set up. Being in the north and close to the weak beams from Europe, you have an added advantage. Try SRT4922HD for 7East Europe Beam. Check PM. Try also Badr 5 and 6 at 26 East (adding an extra LNB between the ones for Amos5 and 36E).
