African Satellite World and Sat Gear

African Satellite World and Sat Gear

For most detailed information i use Lyngsat.com but for updated frequencies i use flysat.com.
That's true for if we give an example of DW tv on SES 5, it's listed on lyngsat but not on flysat.

Spotted in Mombasa town...the smaller one is definitely 8ft what size is the larger ?

The actuator is 18inch or 45cm stroke length which happens to be equal to the total stroke length of elevation mount of my 8ft

LNB set up is multi lnb (5lnbs; 3 C band and 2 ku band) on the 8ft.

On the picture, when the dish is set to point at 68.5, the primary lnb is 68.5, the upper cband parasite is 76.5, the lower cband is 64.2 and the lower ku is 57e.

The upper ku lnb does not nab anything at that point, but the dish can be moved to let it nab from 52.5 ku, 55e ku 57e ku, 68.5 ku, 70.5 ku 75e ku.

The cband primary lnb when the dish is moved, can nab anything between 52e to 91.5 measat that does not require dielectric plate. Eg belintersat, 64.2C, 66C, 68.5C, 72C, 75C ,76.5C, 78C, 91.5C

The lowest cband lnb has dielectric plate when the dish is moved it can nab sats along the 51.5 to 91.5 arc that do require dielectric so far I've been successful in nabbing 57.e C using it. Not successful on 62e C

The multi lnb set up also avoids unnecessary long movements that contribute to ware and tare. Eg instead of moving the primary lnb all the way from 68.5 to 78.5, just move it a little so that the highest parasite lnb at 76.5 moves just an inch to 78.5

Or instead of moving dish from 68.5 to 76.5, just switch to parasite lnb at 76.5 without any movement. Also saves waiting time while switches between channels on different sats

What's is the name of this lnb

Folks,I have been wondering -between flysat.com and lyngsat.com,which is more reliable? For example for eutelsat 70 b,lyngsat starts at 11057v while flysat starts at 11020v.And there are numerous other differences in the tps and channel lists -and this is just one sat.

The websites rely on feedback from me and you.

It performs just as well as Pauxis PX 2000 but it's very choosy. It's good on 57e, 76.5 and 91.5 but poor on 68.5
My God so whats the best lnb for 68.5 .......coz i have just placed an order for px2000

You cud be right.... but for your info, in some locations its hard to get a decent terrestiaL signal for local channels
yap.I agree-it is an assumption that those of us who live in or around major urban centers often make...my bad..

Px200o is good enough. Es21 gold plus is what I said is poor at 68.5
Maybe on your end my fren. Eurostar Es21 is very good but can't beat Pauxis px2000. It performs very well on 68.5 but better on circular satellites.

Decided to make some crude lnb holder arm extensions. To my surprise there was 2 - 3% improvement accross TPs on different sats. 3740 at 68.5 was playing at 92, now 94%, Kenyan mux 72e was Shaky 80%, now 83%. The multi stream tp never appeared before, now 86%. 4Fn at 64.2 was 80, now 83%. Tvm 64.2 never appeared before, now at 57%. 3760 measat was 89%, now 92%

Brilliant! That's the spirit. Just out of curiosity, how did you come to decide on this experiment?

I've been reading that Chinese made dishes come with the wrong focal lengths. Mostly too short. So I decided to make some focal length extension.

To my surprise it's true.,
it looks like these Chinese are making shorter holding arms to cut costs on material

Savings on R&D and quality control costs.

But you had to reposition again the lnbs right? As the previous lnbs positioning was based on the previous measurements including focal length.

Brilliant innovation
I think Vicwa or a member here last year posted a better way of going about it by making the arms adjustable. You cut in the middle or near bottom edge. Add a thiinner rod which will have a bolt lock ie a contraption like the prime focus elevation adjusting arm.

No I didn't touch the lnbs perhaps adjusting them would give better results
