Looked at those pictures and what they are calling "feedhorns" are LNB holding arms not feedhorns!

Feedhorn is the 'pipe' part of the lnb that guides the waves to the lnb itself (the electronics)

The said holding arms are normally about just 8mm thick. I don't think thieir presence would significantly block signals falling on a 6ft dish. What is happening there in my opinion is, they are adjusting the focal length that was wrongly made by the manufacturer and thus improving the signal.

Some on the thread are also reporting that the modification does not improve the signal at all despite removing the arms. Meaning the original focal length was correct.

They are also saying that by removing the holding arms they are changing the pf dish to offset dish which is just rediculous. I Guess someone doesn't know the fundamental differences between prime focus and offset dishes.

But you wouldn't expect someone who calls dish arms 'feedhorns' to know that.

Pwahahaha. I didn't go to the referenced site. I have now, and OK those guys are not using the correct terminology and I wouldn't bother to try what they are trying. I use the dish as manufactured, but just like you I have respect for their spirit of invention and experimentation, trying to extract that extra 2% signal strength from their setups. It is people like that who change the world. They claim to have observed an increase in signal strength after their modifications. Thats an emperical claim which can only be refuted by a different empirical claim, which, unfortunately, I don't have.

On a 90cm,eh?Even the tps on 12130h and 12168h?I nabbed them once but when a plane flew over my roof they disappeared forever😀.To quote the prezzo,I 'will revisit' this bird.52.5e is another one of those sats I regard as a fat sheep in the FTA pen.In terms of fta,I have simple tastes and I dream of a day when i will get just one sat that nabs my favorite mix-animal docs,football,cartoons and movies.

Remove the dielectric plate if you're on 68.5 friend.

Says "solves issue with Hotbird". A bird you can only receive with a 20 meter BUD in these parts of the world.

Hello all after a very long struggle(nilesat 102 failed attempt) have manage to set up my first dish,feels really great!,have a freesat v7s and a 90cm(3ft) ds*v branded dish am currently getting the same 13 channels no radio when i search on these sats:int902,int 904,nss5,Intelsat 68.5 ;.hehe,correct me with this fta of mine.help ,dont laugh

was setting up 60e int;904,so searching on those others was a by the way.my elevation is 60/70(scale is approx).lnb skew abt 4 oclock(looking from lnb to dishreflector).lnb is ds*v packed one,elsat one i think

my signal intensity is 90% signal quality 72%.
