African Satellite World and Sat Gear

Welcome to the world of ASAS, you will enjoy and suffer in equal measure... you will learn new language - DSTv* is called bigbroder here and your questions might not be answered satisfactorily but you will get a way. For starters, make sure your dish is reachable and be careful not to fall from the roof. When you lock a channel, you are allowed to shout like a mad man...Start with Thaicom 5/6 @ 78 east, then try KTN at 70b and for your entertainment, go to nilesat @7w you will get CNN, Movies et al. happy hunting.
Welkam home Matheka, for starters, be patient, have patience, take your time to learn, and read as much as you can. Esp from this forum. Read several pages slowly to have a better grasp of how to manouver in the FTA world and understand what we may be talking about. Be free to ask questions. We are also learning daily.

To the best of my knowledge, they aren't. I got mine (Harmony 700) through a fellow who was visiting home. Initially when new it had the capacity to control up to 7 gadgets. A most recent software upgrade has increased this to 8.🙂

Thanks Ranksat, I will try and get in touch with friends abroad and see whether they can help source it for me....

ASAS mates I've heard some rumers that our beloved MBC'S may go $. That they've introduced a new stb ??

Giden,
Why leave us in suspense on what to consider in a good decorder? Besides price, good reception and ability to auto roll whay other considerations should one consider.I await anxiously on infor on gsky v6 -anyone who has used it,where in Kenya is it availabe & at what price?Possibly compariison with the latest strong decoder?

The answer to this question depends on who you ask. You know how men are with their toys: everyone believes (or wants to believe) that theirs is the best. Your best recourse is to shop by features. Write down what features you'd want your preferred STB to possess then go out there and get the one that (most closely) matches them.

Thanks Ranksat I managed to nail 3 birds using a single nail am currently on eutelsat 7A, Ses5 and Amos 5 using a single lnd and dish, am able to receive 69 channels which are not scrambled but there isn't local channels from Kenya but its worth it for first attempt..

Congratulations. Lakini toa Amos 5 kwa hiyo list; it's defunct having been abducted by aliens. Tell us what channels (or post pics) so that we may know what sat(s) you're currently and offer you appropriate advice and tips.

from the way things are going i think iptv will be the solution.can anyone advise on vpn providers in kenya as my internet provider huku mashinani can only avail a maximum of 2mbps way too slow to stream iptv.

Karibu to the forum where we are all teachers and learners at the same time. What is your physical location? Do you mean Am*s 5 @17e in one lnb with 7 and 5e?
While at the current position (where your dish is facing west-side), you can try Nilesat @7w, which is likely to give you more goodies than the above (no Kenyan though).
The other alternative is to turn the dish right opposite it's current position to face eastwards and hunt for both C and K bands. There you are likely to get much more for less. You have a variety in that direction of 38, 57, 64, 68, 70, 76, 78 etc. Of course all these depend on what really tickles your fancy. Happy hunting
Can you help me frequence n symborate of those chnls

What is happening on MTN signal? Does it mean 1.8m is no longer enough?
The signal seems to have been affected when they changed the SR. I intend to check my setup for I also lost some significant levels of signal. There could also on my part, be the small matter of our Domestic Management Specialist using the "big plate" to place shoes to dry and turning the plate towards the sun for them to dry faster. 🙂

@all . am on 70b ( locals channels). for the last few days when I blind scan I get 37% green on tp 11558V2400 (1.8m dish) but nothing pops up. anyone with more info.

Still enough even for now, maybe you should adjust your top gadgets. On my side in day time Q65-67% and in the evening Q70-72%, but earlier in the evening it was Q75-77%.

Which lnb are you using.Your signal level is always impressive.

Check if your setup has moved (azimuth, lnb skew, elevation or all the above). What receiver are you using? I was on this bird on Pauxis C/K band combo lnb but I have since moved on.
