African Satellite World and Sat Gear

Signal strong now
This is refreshing. I blind scanned V7 and 4950H last night and although the new tp popped up, it returned zero signal. I went to sleep a dejected ASAS.

By far, the best of them is the Logitech Harmony series of Universal remotes that can be configured to control more than one gadget and set to also control activities.

Hello Ranksat,

I came across them online last year, are they available in Nairobi?

Hello satmates am new and a bit stack, I have an HD world fta decoder, 1.8 prime focus dish which have been using with dstv decoder, I have both both c and Ku band lnbs. With my current dish position am only able to access CCTV which is not scrambled , which other SATs can I track with my equipment . I need frequency, symbol rate and polarization to track the new bird..... Thanks in advance.

I have it on a 180 cm with Q60% both A#N and BBC Africa Tv feed and NBC Tv tp 3977 L/H 17777 Q67% on srt 4922 . Minimal quality on this sat is 55%, thus a Q5% allowance from my Q60%....come rain come shine, no cracking (C band).
can you put the picture of the dish so i can see the setup..

To the best of my knowledge, they aren't. I got mine (Harmony 700) through a fellow who was visiting home. Initially when new it had the capacity to control up to 7 gadgets. A most recent software upgrade has increased this to 8.🙂

At that position indeed, that is the only channel you can receive. If you wanna be more adventurous, try SES-5 and/or Nilesat amongst many others. Frequencies readily available on lyngsat.com or flysat.com.

Giden,
Why leave us in suspense on what to consider in a good decorder? Besides price, good reception and ability to auto roll whay other considerations should one consider.I await anxiously on infor on gsky v6 -anyone who has used it,where in Kenya is it availabe & at what price?Possibly compariison with the latest strong decoder?

Karibu to the forum where we are all teachers and learners at the same time. What is your physical location? Do you mean Am*s 5 @17e in one lnb with 7 and 5e?
While at the current position (where your dish is facing west-side), you can try Nilesat @7w, which is likely to give you more goodies than the above (no Kenyan though).
The other alternative is to turn the dish right opposite it's current position to face eastwards and hunt for both C and K bands. There you are likely to get much more for less. You have a variety in that direction of 38, 57, 64, 68, 70, 76, 78 etc. Of course all these depend on what really tickles your fancy. Happy hunting

Sorry just been busy,
1. Check for support ie both software updates and hardware availability
2. Pricing should also be fair not exploitative, i feel V6 is overpriced.
3. Look out for fakes gather as much info as possible from users and the net before you take the plunge.
3. Tuner sensitivity is also a plus but not actually the best measure of a good box.
4. Personal taste as we have personal differences

I give kudos to Openbox z5, the way the menu list pops in... you can easily log in to read your emails.. it has good iptv channel list etc.

What is happening on MTN signal? Does it mean 1.8m is no longer enough?
Still enough even for now, maybe you should adjust your top gadgets. On my side in day time Q65-67% and in the evening Q70-72%, but earlier in the evening it was Q75-77%.

Welcome to the world of ASAS, you will enjoy and suffer in equal measure... you will learn new language - DSTv* is called bigbroder here and your questions might not be answered satisfactorily but you will get a way. For starters, make sure your dish is reachable and be careful not to fall from the roof. When you lock a channel, you are allowed to shout like a mad man...Start with Thaicom 5/6 @ 78 east, then try KTN at 70b and for your entertainment, go to nilesat @7w you will get CNN, Movies et al. happy hunting.
