ACT WAZALENDO’S STATEMENT ON THE SITUATION IN SUDAN.

ACT Wazalendo follows with great concern the on-going armed conflict in Sudan between Sudan Armed Force (SAF) and Paramilitary Rapid Support Force (RSF) from 15 th April 2023 and according to reports so far, the conflict has caused death of more than 200 people, as well as destruction of properties and infrastructures.

We deplore any use of force for the interests of the Sudanese people and we strongly call for both parties to urgently return to the negotiation table and find an amicable solution and that ensures peace for the Sudanese people.

We also urge the Peace and Security Council of African Union (PSC) of which Tanzania is a member, to exercise its power to intervene so as to stop the escalation of the conflict, whilst we call of the African Union to reject any external interference that could further complicate the situation in Sudan.

Conflict benefits no one but may result more social-economic, and humanitarian problems to majority Sudanese. As a result, setback gains from ongoing peace and democratization processes.

We call upon the Government of Tanzania through our embassy in Khartoum to follow up and ensure the safety of Tanzania nationals most of whom are students in various universities. We ask for constant updates on their situation and advise the government to take all required measures to evacuate them as soon as the situation demands.

Once a strong arm leader is deposed expect chaos to ensue sooner or later. I think ACT should urge that lady, Alaa Salah, to lead again sudanese people against the fighting parties and demand immediate unconditional ceasefire and return to peace. She has got the blueprint.
