Five police officers have been killed and four others injured after suspected Al Shabaab gunmen attacked their vehicle between Kotulo and Elwak towns in Mandera County.
Reports indicate that the militants ambushed the police officers on Monday morning in the village near the Kenya-Somalia border.
Also Read: Two more people die of cholera in Mandera as death toll rises The attack has been condemned by Mandera Governor Ali Roba who said information about the presence of the militants in the area had been shared but no action was taken.
“We condemn the attack by Al Shabaab at Dimu this morning where five police officers were killed. The info about their presence was long shared by the locals,” Governor Ali Roba said on his Twitter account.
