A 22-year-old statistician has been remanded to prison after being charged with forging official Office of the Prime Minister (OPM) appointment letters and defrauding a woman of Shs3.8 million under the guise of securing her a government job.
Nicolas Male, a resident of Luboowa Zone in Wakiso District, appeared before the Buganda Road Chief Magistrate's Court presided over by Grade One Magistrate Alex Niyonzima.
The court read five counts against him, including forgery, uttering false documents, and obtaining money by false pretence.
Male pleaded not guilty to all five charges brought against him by the state. The prosecution alleges that on June 5, 2025, at Apollo Kaggwa Road in Nakasero, Kampala District, Male forged an appointment letter for the position of Senior Registration Officer in the Office of the Prime Minister. He is further accused of knowingly presenting the false documnent, which purported to bear the signature of an official identified as Patrick Muhereza.
