Access to finance and financial education is still in issues in most developing countries,Tanzania included.The majority of the society has limited access to financial education and financial services which limits them in many aspects of their life.
As a country,Tanzania needs to start contemplating on how best we can leverage on our financial resources and empower our youths to be more productive and successful.This is where the need for Financial services that are tailored to the group of youths becomes necessary.
With are large part of our population comprising of youths,the potential that lies within them is immense and needs to be tapped.The need for access to financial education and financial services for the youth can be very rewarding to economy.The concept of Youth friendly Financial service that I believe will suit our country best is one which provides a mix of skills and knowledge in the areas of Personal Finance Management,Investments and Savings,Micro enterprises Management ,Business financing and Loans.
The issue of personal finance Management is critical in helping youths on how to manage their spending as well as giving them incentives to save more and spend less.It should help youths in using budgets to guide their spending and in limiting their spending based on their goals aspirations.Investment and Savings should provide youth with an opportunity to use their financial resources to build on their fortunes through investing in start ups as well as in utilizing the financial markets to build wealth.
Generally,The Government should have a policy framework that clearly gives incentives to youths and businesses that provide youth friendly financial services.Access to finance and finance education can go a long way towards creating an empowered society.
