Very few companies if any buy jumbo jets with 'hard cash' as you say. Please update yourself with the procurement processes of large aircraft before you display your ignorance.
That's all Kenya.... By the way Tz has more corruption and even bigger ones than anyone in the region perhaps in the continent. Only that your media is weak and can't unveil them.... So remove the log in your eyes before you even say ahem about Kenya
Yaani mmepata Bajaji mmoja sasa mnadhani you have the biggest airline in the continent... ama hii majigambo ni ya nini?? Pride comes before a hard fall esp in the Aviation industry which is so unpredictable.... Welcome aboard

But while you're at it, please remember that the new Tanzania airways will have to compete with the already established KQ for passengers. Not also forgetting the new Rwandair.
That's when you'll understand why most companies don't do 'hard cash'.
Gitimu Peter, rest assured even at the moment the share of passengers to Tanzania is dominated by middle eastern airlines Emirates, Quatar airlines, Etihads Turkish airlines followed by Ethiopian airlines! KQ is nowhere among the main market holders! A reason Air Tanzania will just wipe out that little share by ur loss making KQ
one Boeing 787-8 (dreamliner) pamoja na spare parts zake ni $250million, ama 25Billion KSH ama ukipenda 500 Billion TSH......... Thats just one aircraft Kenya iko na 7 of them (they were intended to be 9 but the rest were put on hold)
If you buy 7 all in cash, thats $1.75Billion dollars fot just 7 aircrafts that you are not even guaranteed that they will be filled to capacity....
Hebu sasa niambie, Unafikiri Magu anaeza kubali kurusha $1.7B hivi hivi? with 1.7B unaeza ukajenga the largest airport in Africa!
this id why rich millionnaire musicians and sportsmen are always adviced to rent or atleast buy in lease of their ferraries, yatchs, and lamboginies........ Same should apply for companies... A company that has never made a Billion dollar revenue should not go buying billion dollar planes,
at the same time KQ was making deals for the dreamliners, they were also buying 10 embrear jets upfront with an intention to add 16 more in the future
-------
Thats why wengine wetu tunacheka tukiona WaTz wameshaanza kupiga kelele na majigambo eti wanaongeza ndege mbili ili zifike nne-tano, eti sijui hoo KQ kwisha, hoo mtakiona....

Tanzania we bought and still buying aircraft's by hard cash, hizo ndege hata kama zisipo ruka mwaka mzima we dont pay anyone isn't supposed to be paid. Unlike Kenya where you'll find middle men, another man, top boss and the one who is waiting his/ her 10% before any deal is approved.

Which part of Man Eat Man you don't understand, yani Uhuruto they're just about to finish Kenya, na wewe unaendelea kuimba Kenya isn't corrupt. Anyway loyalty is what Kenya needs right now, wamekupata au wakenya wanasema "wamekubamba"

That's why we don't just acquire any dead assets, we don't just go out there and place an order of nine Dreamliner tena kwa mkopo. The good thing of buying anything cash, you eliminate the need of paying back the loan even if your not making any profit. Sasa hivi hata tukifungia hiyo ndege kwenye hangar for two years. No one is getting paid who isn't supposed to be paid. Another benefit, fare can be as lower as we would like them to be.

AIR TANZANIA SET FOR LONG HAUL OPERATIONS AFTER GOVERNMENT MAKES DOWNPAYMENT FOR BOEING B787 DREAMLINER
(Posted 07th December 2016)
After purchasing 5 brand new aircraft from Canadian manufacturer Bombardier, among them three Q400NG’s and two of the recently launched CS300’s, has the Tanzanian government now made a further commitment to boost the operations of the national airline Air Tanzania.
It is understood that a 10 million US Dollars commitment fee has been paid to Boeing for the delivery of a B787-8 Dreamliner in June 2018. At that stage will all five new Bombardier aircraft be in operation on domestic and regional / African routes, helping to feed traffic into the airline’s long haul services.
While no confirmation has been received from Air Tanzania is it expected that the Dreamliner will be deployed on a route to China with added suggestions that a European gateway too could be on the drawing board.
Air Tanzania, best described as moribund as recently as a year ago with just one serviceable aircraft, a Bombardier Q300 turboprop, was for long plagued by inept and allegedly corrupt management with many former managers now facing court cases.
The Magufuli government however has restructured the board of the company as well as bringing new managers into the airline with clear instructions to reverse the flagging fortunes of Air Tanzania or else – and it is the ‘or else‘ the new team may fear most as President Magufuli does not appear to tolerate failure, in particular with so much money at stake.
A Boeing B787 Dreamliner costs anything from 220 million US Dollars upwards and the aircraft purchases from Bombardier are equally amounting to an estimated 270 million US Dollars for the five planes, two of which have already been delivered and entered service two months ago.
