President and Commander In Chief of Kenya Defense Forces, William Samoei Ruto has approved a series of promotions, appointments, and postings within the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) following recommendations from the Defence Council.
Among the key changes, Major General John Maiso Nkoimo has been appointed Deputy Commander of the Kenya Army, taking over from Major General Mohamed Nur Hassan, who has retired.
Nkoimo previously served as the General Officer Commanding Central Command.
In the Kenya Air Force, Brigadier Mohamed Salah Farah has been appointed Deputy Air Force Commander after serving as Base Commander at Laikipia Air Base.
The changes also saw Brigadier William Kamoiro promoted to Major General and appointed General Officer Commanding Central Command, while Brigadier Peter Kipketer Limo rose to the rank of Major General and was named Assistant Chief of Defence Forces in charge of Personnel and Logistics.
Meanwhile, President Ruto extended the tenure of Kenya Navy Commander Major General Paul Owuor Otieno by one year.
Several senior officers also received promotions across the Army and Air Force.
Among them are Brigadier (Dr.) Francis Njoroge Kuria, who becomes Major General and Director of Medical Services, and Colonel Mark Joseph Awala, who has been promoted to Brigadier and appointed Chief of Operations at Kenya Army Headquarters.
The appointments form part of routine leadership changes aimed at strengthening command structures and operational readiness within the country's defence forces.
Notably, the reshuffle also highlights the continued rise of women in senior military leadership, with Colonel Asma Diramo Kofa and Colonel Benedetta Margaret Kikechi among officers promoted to the rank of Brigadier.
