Why do we say Nyerere was a visionary leader?

Nyerere piloted the Union. No body understands the intention and implementation of the union!! Evcerybody sees it as a total mess!!
In this case; why should we praise Nyerere for this Union that brought another Colonialism to Tanganyikas?

If the vision turned out to be a non starter because of utekelezaji does not mean that it could never worked (anyway it has worked for many years till now)

He had also a vision of everyone living together, helped each other and shared resources (because it did not work does not mean it was a bad idea)

If he was a visionary leader he would have known that socialism would fail, he branded Kenya "Nyang'au" but look at Kenya today, they are the fourth largest economy in sub Saharan Africa and the first in East Africa.

kenya had a head start of at least a dozen years ahead of Tanganyika. they had organized agro sector, tanzania had peasant economy. be careful with this anythime in the future.

ujamaa and self reliance was a visionary idea. it was nyerere's unique brand of african socialism
