Republicans ni watu wa ajabu sana. Naona sasa wanapita mipaka na kuingia kwenye siasa za kishabiki badala ya "pragmatic politics". Ni wazi sasa wao wanapinga chochote kile Obama anachofanya, hata kama ni kizuri.
Jana wakati wa msiba wa Mandela Obama alishikana mkono na Castro katika kuonyesha kwamba yuko tayari kusahau yaliyopita na kuganga yajayo, hasa katika spirit ya "Ubuntu" (ubinadamu) ya Mandela. Sasa Republicans wamekuja juu wakisema alichofanya Obama ni sawa na na kujaribu kuwafurahisha Manazi wa zamani wa Ujerumani.
Ikumbukwe kwamba Republicans, chini ya Bush junior, waliishauri serikali ya Makaburu wa Sourth Afrika isimwachie huru Mandela mwaka 1990.
