It looks like Samsung is determined to win back some of its fans that have decided to keep their older flagship smartphones instead of upgrading to Galaxy S6 due to the lack of features like microSD card slot and removable battery.
According to a new report from VentureBeat, both Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge will be packed with microSD card slot for memory expansion (up to 200GB).
Also, both flagship smartphones will feature IP67 certifications, which will make them dust- and water-proof. The standard Galaxy S7 will come with a 5.1-inch flat display while the S7 edge variant should sport a larger 5.5-inch curved display.
Both Super AMOLED displays support Quad HD (2560 x 1440 pixels) resolution, but Samsung will also add AOD (always-on display) function that should save some battery life (only 1% battery per hour).
Moreover, Samsung will include larger batteries in both its flagships. The Galaxy S7 will be powered by a 3,000 mAh battery while the S7 edge will pack an even larger 3,600 mAh battery.
It's unclear whether or not they will remain non-removable, but the report claims they feature wireless charging (2 hours for Galaxy S7, 2.2 hours for S7 edge).
The international version of Galaxy S7 will be equipped with a powerful 2.3GHz octa-core Exynos 8890 processor while the Chinese and North American models will pack Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 CPUs.
