Peter Temba in Moshi
Daily News; Sunday,January 13, 2008 @20:03
MOSHI Urban MP Philemon Ndesamburo has purchased a 5-acre plot at
Kiboriloni area, to relocate over 1,000 traders currently shuffled at
King
George Memorial Stadium here. The MP told a cheering crowd here on
Saturday that his decision to set up the market, which he also intends
to
modernise, was based on the fact that Kiboriloni was an international
market, where Tanzanians and foreigners buy and sell various goods.
Mr Ndesamburo said he was negotiating with Municipality fathers to see
how
the business people could begin their activities at the new place and
leave the stadium for other sport and celebration activities.
He took the occasion to publicly declare that he would contest the
Moshi
parliamentary seat in 2010. Ndesamburo said he was heavily indebted to
the
electorate in his constituency, because he was an ardent development
activist who has to do a lot more.
If am nominated by my party (CHADEMA) and later re-elected, I will
introduce sustainable poverty alleviation development projects in this
constituency, he said. He blamed Moshi Municipal Council for
allegedly
undermining his efforts to ameliorate welfare of his electorate on
political grounds, suggesting that functionaries who harbour false
feelings that the opposition camp was incapable of delivering should
relinquish their posts immediately. "Why should opposition parties be
discriminated when implementing development projects?" he queried,
advising relevant authorities to allow him serve his electorates
unimpeded.
