Nani kakwambia hawalipi kodi???

BIG SCANDALS – STOP (AND PONDER)

Source: The Gurdian!

Mr R. J. Sabodo

I am shocked by the amount of money Cell phone companies rob from us daily with full official endorsement and clean payments.

Mobile phone subscribers are now more than 15 million. We a number three in consumption of this service in Africa. Mobile phone service in India is 11% - 15% times cheaper than here. Likewise, the United States is 9% - 11% times less, while Kenya and Uganda is 10% - 15% lower than here.

We all know that mobile is vital for survival in the modern age. I advice our government to abolish VAT on mobile phone calls and instead increase income tax for mobile phone companies to between 65% to 85%. This is because if the VAT is not claimed where the buyer is not VAT registered, who will know?

Can these mobile phone investor give us the figure for that they have earned for all the years they have been operating in this country? How much have they taken back to their mother country and how much is remaining?

Assume one mobile customer pays Tsh. 50/= per day that is a whooping 75m/= per day revenue for these companies. Multiplied by 365 days that equal 273.75bn/= which is a very hypothetical minimum that phone companies earn per year. The poor man is being robbed of the little he has.

Scandals like BOT, EPA, Gold which is sold like iron ore, Richmond etc, are nothing compares to this because there is official endorsement of the government. I advice strongly that if the Government goes with this kind of polices, then the majority poor will suffer.

I urge the Government to become a partner for these companies. Government should acquire 65 percent share of these and list in the stock market so that it can be sold at not more than T sh. 50000/= per share so as to benefit majority of Tanzanias.

Please give response if I am right or wrong to:

Mr R. J. Sabodo

N.B. 50/= shillings is the most minimum. But if you workout at 100/= you will be amazed how we are looted! And if we pay 500/= shs. Daily, nothing shall be left, Tanzania will be a desert.

Nimejaribu kupata list ya kenya, nimepata ya 2008 click link hapa:
http://www.marsgroupkenya.org/Reports/LawsandConventions/KRA_Distinguished_Taxpayers_List_2008.pdf, Safaricom LTD ndo iliongoza kwa kulipa kodi! then ndo inakuja Kenya Breweries Ltd (KBL).
The same in Uganda! MTN Group ndo inaongoza kwa kulipa kodi, cheki hapa:MTN is again Uganda's top taxpayer, hii ni kwa financial year 2006/07, and it has been the leading taxpayer for 3 consecutive years, na trend ilivyo wataalamu wa uganda wametabiri kuwa MTN inaweza kuongoza katika 3 coming years i.e.nanukuu: "The statistics prove that Ugandans are spending more on mobile phone airtime, fuel, beer and phones. The trend of consumption is likely to remain the same in the next three years". . na hali ya Uganda ni kama ya bongo tu, makampuni ya cm yapo more than 3, na competition ni kubwa.
nanukuu kwa uganda: "The top 10 of the best 1000 taxpayers paid out about Ugshs753 billion which was 28.6 per cent of the total revenue. The 10 include, MTN, Shell, Uganda Breweries, Nile Breweries, Total Uganda, Tororo cement, Century Bottling Company (Coke), and energy producers Aggreko International."

TZ mbona hali ni tofauti sana? makampuni yenye wateja wengi, Vodacom na tigo, hayapo hata kwenye top 15!! me' sio mchumi but with such "situational and comparative analysis" nashawishika kuamini kuwa kuna walakini na ukwepaji wa kodi... naomba wataalamu wa haya mambo na wanajamvi tuyajadili haya.
