Mukono South MP Robert Maseruka has called for amendments to fishing regulations, including reducing the 200-square-kilometre Lacteine Protected Area by half.
Maseruka says the changes could help protect endangered fish species while allowing communities that depend on fishing to access the lake.
The proposal comes amid growing public concern over alleged exploitation of fishing resources in the area.
Mukono District Fisheries Officer Mustafa Kalyango said some officials allegedly continue fishing within the protected area, restricting access for local fishermen.
