Lionel Messi sentenced to 21 months in jail

Lionel Messi has been sentenced to 21 months in jail for tax fraud by a Spanish court.

Under Spanish law any sentence under two years can be suspended meaning the Barcelona and former Argentina footballer is expected to avoid serving time in prison.

The 29-year-old, among the world’s highest-earning athletes, was accused of creating a string of fake companies in Belize and Uruguay to avoid taxation on €4.16m (£3.2m) of image rights earnings between 2007 and 2009.

What are the chances of Messi serving his jail sentence?

Messi, who took time out from Argentina’s preparations for the Copa America tournament this summer, said in court last month: “I was playing football; I had no idea about anything. I trusted my dad and my lawyers.”

The Argentinian’s father Jorge Horacio Messi has been handed the same punishment. The pair, who also face huge fines, can appeal their sentences through the Supreme Court.

During the trial, Messi said he never suspected any wrongdoing when his father would ask him to sign contracts or documents relating to his image rights, a lucrative source of income for any athlete of his calibre.

Was that really your point? I know its easy to catch that quick amnesia but anywayz ....
The VAT started in 1997, and since then, Tanzania has experienced a relatively good rate of investments. The population that own autos significantly increased and industrialization - apart from gas - is pretty decent. Tanzania is not even considered as a high taxing land and her tax regime is full of exemptions. Government revenue is 12% of the GDP while in US, its in the 30s. So, that higher taxes "thang" is just baloney.

Now, ATM fees? Incurring ATM fees in the States is a luxury. My broke ass hardly pay ATM fees. I live by my credit union, so I will just drive to my bank if I need cash( they got pretty chicks anyway) In-network ATM's don't charge a thing, that's another option. And I don't pay cash to squash let's say a dinner check, I just swipe the MF. So ATM fees are not really necessary thing to incur. Its Luke saying Americans paid 4bn$ in porn, So??.
Whatever the case, based on Rooselvelt taxes, Scandinavian and Canadian rates, higher taxes always is a remedy for trickle down economics and has been shown statistically.
Texas has no State tax, while California has. Texas is among the leading States in Food stamps, welfare and childhood pregnancies. Matter of fact, red states are leading in populations that receive welfare.
We can start local banks and credit unions. Mizzou bank is owned by a state college, some power companies and workers unions have their own banks. People can start local banks to buffer these fees .
Its people like you that demoralize little positive changes.

The state of industrialization in Tanzania is still at its infancy.

To claim that it is "decent" is quite untrue.

Decent state of industrialization means we can produce high quality goods for our market and for exports.

Can you name 3 local brands from your "decent" industries which are found in major markets?

I can't agree with you that our state of industrialization is "decent" when our shops are full of foreign made products.

We have to fix our tax codes, infrastructures and education first. Industrialization does not happen out of the blue. I don't believe that the current environment will bring rapid industrialization. I'm just being a realist.

The government of Magufuli is clueless, dictatorial and lack the understanding of how the free market economy function. They have shown that clearly with the sugar issue. They need to coordinate their policies better and work with and not against the business community.

The government can make it more affordable for little guys to strive. To squeeze them with unrealistic taxes will only kill businesses in the long run, create unemployment and continue to make Tanzania depend on imports rather than locally made products.

If you don't think Tanzania is a highly taxed economy, you are detached from the realities on the ground.

I will not bother to compare the banking choices you have in America against banking services of a developing nation. Our economical needs and means are different.

I just mentioned to you earlier that 3 American banks earn $6 billion from ATM fees even though people have many options to choose when it comes to the services. It's probably a matter of convenience that they choose to be charged higher fees?

Now imagine the number of banking services available in Tanzania. Are you really surprised that they charge high fees to access your own money?

Hundreds of sale transactions occur every moment around the world, on which the price of tax is inclusive which we never recognize. The tax charged on the sales can either be Sales Tax or VAT. The latter is an extension over the former and it is brought by the Government to fulfill the loopholes of the Sales Tax. Sales Tax is imposed by both Central and State Government while only the State Government has the right to levy Value Added Tax (VAT) on sale of goods.

Many people are still not known about the difference between Sales Tax and VAT. Here, in this article we are going to distinguish the two consumption tax along with their meanings

Bruh, when I said industrialization, I meant the rate of industrial sector development.

Rate means per time

Export from Manufacturing has increased from 0.87 bil $ to 1.94 billion$ from 2000 - 2010.
MVA per capita has increased from 34$ to 41$ from 2005 - 2013 according to the recent UNIDO report .
To give you a bigger picture, Kenya has experienced an MVA per capita growth of 59$ to 61$ during the same period.
Yes, Tanzania is on the lowest group, I know that, but industrialization (esp. Manufacturing) is cruising at a very decent rate.
Tanzania in 2013 (latest data) had the ICP of 0.007, the cut off to a middle class industrialized countries is 0.01. at the top of UNIDOs lower class is Tanzania, Ghana, Mozambique .
But Tanzania, given that it performs at the same rate (31% increase per annum) will most likely reach middle class in 2020. But who knows .... The country is full of hard headed MFs who think like you, so only god knows.
My point is, I don't just write based on hallucinations neither am I a person that has experienced major mind-f*ck. I'm writing based on observations made by experts, not politicians.
So when I said industrialization is decent (could be better but not as bad as its perceived by Dumbo's) I meant it based on stats.
.
I'm not gonna argue with you about how much the economy of Tanzania is being taxed. You don't seem to rely on researched data or at least relativity... So, I refuse to lower myself to your caliber. Its just too boring, and I'd rather do other things.

OK, Einstein. I won't take your time to exchange views.

You sound pretty much like Magufuli. You think you know it all and think everybody else with a different view is a MF and dumb.

I don't write while I am high either. So go https://jamii.app/JFUserGuide yourself. I am not a politician either. I make observations made from personal experience. I have run businesses in Tanzania and I know how difficult it is to go through the red tape.

All those fucking data means jack shit if an average Tanzanian is still struggling to eat one meal a day. You can't possibly know that because your head is stuck in your rectum.

Yes, I can swear too.

He he, "is stick" .... Your mind is a terrible thing. Stay away from that Fukushima sushi, you might end up fkd up.
