The suspects allegedly claimed to be acting on behalf of State House Anti-Corruption and demanded Shs10 million, promising to help secure bond for individuals arrested over alleged corruption uncovered during the Hon. Balaam campaign.
According to investigators, the victim managed to raise Shs1 million, which was handed over to the suspects as part of the demanded amount.
The two men were subsequently arrested at the Procurement Office of Tororo Municipal Council, where they were allegedly found in possession of the Shs1 million.
They are currently detained at Tororo Central Police Station as investigations continue.
State House Anti-Corruption has warned the public that no individual is authorised to solicit or demand money on its behalf.
The public has been urged to remain vigilant and report anyone claiming to represent the anti-corruption body while demanding money in exchange for assistance.
